Second wrong mate.

Two ~Jana~ I couldn't remember much of what happened. I don't know if I screamed out or fell unconscious but I was here on the hospital bed, with Liam staring worriedly at me. The minute he noticed my eyes were opened, he rushed to sit on the bed, taking my hand in his. “How are you feeling now?” The concern in his voice almost made me forget the words I heard earlier. “You suddenly collapsed in the hallway.” I nodded, too weak to utter a word. In truth, my mind was still in shock. No matter how many times I thought about it, it just didn't make sense to me. If he fell out of love with me, why not just divorce me? Why did he need to go this far? “I'm happy you're okay. Veronica was so worried when she heard the news that her body started acting up. The doctors are currently attending to her, after that, they will come check on you, okay?” He said softly. I looked around my ward. If I wasn't so dumbfounded, I would probably laugh. I was in a regular ward, while his mistress had the entire VIP floor to herself with the best doctors attending to her. “I… I want to go home…” I finally got the words out. “Of course,” he agreed almost immediately. “I don't think you should remain here any longer either. I'll sign the papers and take you home, okay?” The irony brought tears to my eyes. The last time Veronica came here for a mere migraine, he'd insisted she spend at least two days under the best medical care, just to ensure she was perfectly fine. But in my case, he was eager to kick me out. I said nothing and watched him leave. There was just one thing I wanted to know now. The baby Veronica was carrying, was it even mine? If not, what did Liam do with my eggs? After the last miscarriages, I woke up to hear that he had me undergo hysterectomy. He claimed the doctor said it was the only way to save my life. It hurt me that I would never be able to conceive but I was consoled by the fact that my sister would carry my eggs. Now I didn't even know what to think anymore. How much of that was even true? Liam eventually returned and took me home. He took off almost immediately, claiming an emergency came up at the hospital. But now, I knew it was just an excuse to spend more time with my sister and the tears came burning again. As soon as I stepped in, the servants bowed in greeting but I ignored everyone. I just want to get to my room and cry my eyes out. But my mother-in-law showed up. “Jana, you're back!” The excitement in her voice made my chest ache in realization. She pulled me into a tight hug. “Have you had something to eat? I made your favourite!” A tear slid past my cheek. This was the reason Liam couldn't just divorce me. His mother loved me to the moon. I saved her life years ago when she suddenly collapsed at the restaurant I was working in. She didn't come with the guards that day so I had to perform CPR and rush her to the hospital. I'd used my entire savings to make a deposit and when she woke up, she declared me her daughter-in-law and insisted that Liam marry me. He was single then and so easy to love. With time, he grew to love me too or so I thought. How could I have been so delusional as to think an Alpha like Liam would dedicate himself to a weak, fragile omega like me? She pulled away. “We have an important guest I’d like…” the words died in her throat when she noticed my tears. “What happened, dear? Why are you crying?” I shook my head. “I'm just so happy. Every time you show me love, I feel like my mother is alive.” It wasn't totally a lie. That was how she made me feel. Just not today. She brushed the tear off my cheek. “Silly girl. Don't scare me like that. You're Luna now, you can't be a crybaby in public.” I smiled, quickly wiping my face. “Who is the guest you were talking about?” I asked as she pulled me towards the dining. I sat down and she began dishing the food for me. It was a habit of hers. Serving me herself even when there were servants on standby. “My son is back.” “Liam?” I arched a brow, unsure why that was an announcement. “No, silly. My oldest son,” she snorted. “I have twin sons, remember? Levi and Liam.” I did not know that. “Liam is a twin?” I blurted and she looked like she would smack me with the spoon. “Keep up, Jana,” she groaned. “Yes, yes. Liam is a twin but don't worry, they're not identical. Levi was born a few hours before Liam. So he's the oldest of the two. He left the pack when he was roughly eighteen.” Oh, no wonder I didn't know him. “You know he didn't call home once and then earlier today, he showed up with a fleet of expensive cars and a woman. Saying he wants to formally introduce his fiancee to the family. Crazy right?” She scoffed. I was stunned. That was a lot… “Gossiping about me again, mother?” Every hair on my skin stood as the deep soothing voice carried across the room. My body went stiff as the intoxicating mix of saffron and cedar teased my nostrils. I wanted to look at him, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to move. I wasn't sure if it was because of the intense eyes I felt at the back of my head or the sudden heat surging through my veins. My wolf stirred and my grip on the fork tightened. ‘Mate!’ Yeah, no! You've got to be kidding me!
