A Time for truth

Spring break had been eventful. I had met a new friend, died, and learned that the supernatural world did exist. While I was excited, I also understood the dangers that awaited me. More importantly, I feared what Corbin would think. I was sure that he was a werewolf, but that didn't make anything easier. I had studied the different supernatural being in theory, so I understood how each species thought and was organized. Corbin would have an issue with David. It was genetic. I needed to speak with Peter, but some questions I needed to ask...were personal. I was glad that when I entered his study, Vivian was there. I took a chair across the desk from Peter. "Ah, I have some questions about Corbin. He knows that David is here, but he doesn't know that I died. It would have been odd to text that message. Hey, I died today, but all is good...how does that sound? Anyway I have known for a while that he is a werewolf and he will smell David on me the moment he sees me. I thought that I should take control of the situation and change into a wolf and back, but I want to be decent." I rambled. Peter smiled. "I'm sure Vivian can help you tailor some clothes that whill allow you to shift back and forth in them. What I want to know is exactly how you want to explain what has happened and where David will be." He said, not bothering to deny that Corbin was a werewolf. I liked this new honesty we were developing. I thought for a moment. "Well, once I get his attention by shifting into a wolf and back, I plan to start from the beginning...it is time for us to start being honest with eachother." *** I was waiting for Corbin in front of his house when his father's truck pulled down the drive. Sunflower was tied to a post to the side of the house. Corbin was smiling when he stepped out of the truck, but his smile faltered when he sniffed the air. Before he could say anything I shifted into a wolf. I had expected to transform right back to a girl. but Corbin's father, Sam, rushed to me and knelt, first he rubbed my snout. "I don't see many wolves in sundresses, but you pull it off well." He said, a booming laugh escaped from him. I yipped, then stepped back from him, instantly turning back into myself. I stood and straightened my dress. "We have a lot to talk about Corbin. I died two days ago, and the boy I texted about brought me back from the dead, but I absorbed some of his powers." Sam had stepped back from me when I stood and at the mention of my death he nodded. He turned to Corbin. "This boy is a werewolf, mage hybrid." He looked at me. "Do you know where he is?" I nodded. "He is at the place the accident happened. I think he is still trying to process everything, but he hides it well." "Where did it happen?" He asked again. "In the back of the property on the horsepath that comes closest to your property." I answered. "You two talk. I'm going to find the boy," Sam said. "You may want to call him David; the boy, might get on his nerves and I don't think you want to see him mad. I know I don't." I answered. Sam threw Corbin the keys to the house. "You two behave." He paused. "Mind if I borrow Sunflower." "If she's okay with it." I answered. Sam walked to Sunflower. "What do you say? Do you want a ride?" He asked. The horse nickered and Sam laughed as he untied the reigns. I watched him ride off before turning back to Corbin. For a moment I simply studied him comparing him to David. He was about an inch taller than David, but not quite as broadshouldered. He was very cute, but David was a more fierce beauty. It was like Corbin was a statue of the perfect man and David was a raging fire. It was hard to say who was more beautiful, but David was more dangerous. "You're staring at me." Corbin said. "Tell me about your break." Corbin led me inside and got us both a Coke. I started talking. Corbin was used to listening to me talk, and while he wasn't as good at listening as David or Peter, he was better than most boys. We sat on the big couch in the family room while I laid my head on his shoulder. I recapped David and I meeting, then talked about the ride and the accident. I couldn't explain much about what actually happened when I was dead...At times I got flashes, but I didn't know if they were true memories. Then I explained to Corbin how I learned that I could change forms. When I was done talking Corbin stood. "I can't change quickly. I'm going to go into the bathroom. I will find you once I am fully a wolf." He said.
