Shinbe grinned. His voice was soft and breathless as his lips brushed against her ear, “I’ve got you.” He felt her shudder and knew she could hear the double meaning in his simple words.
Kyoko wanted to scramble up the steps but with his body pressing against hers, she couldn’t move. She turned slightly to look down at him, “Shinbe, how did you come through the heart of time without me or Toya touching you?”
Giving her his most dazzling smile, Shinbe offered, “Would you believe me if I told you I was pulled in right after you jumped?” Then he gave her a perfectly wicked look.
Kyoko flushed, rolled her eyes, and sighed, “No. You realize that Toya is coming. And I’m not going to protect you this time.”
