My Final Farewell

1111 Words
Morning light shone in through the windows, not long ago I thought my days in this palace were endless. That daybreak would never arrive, but now that it has I find myself wishing for the gentle caress of the star-filled night I've come to know so well. I stood, staring out the window as the sun rose over the horizon, a Carriage pulls up in front of the palace, the red of its exterior shimmering in the light, the gold details agleam as if i were staring at dawn itself. Hooked up to it were eight beautiful Black horses, adorned in gold as if to showcase the prize to which would soon be within their care. The Horses were large in size, with a build to prove it. Just two of those horses could have pulled that carriage with ease, then why use so many? could it be the kingdom of dragons doesn't know anything about Horses? or carriages for that matter? or perhaps there's another explaination. Theres a sudden knock on the door, cutting off my thoughts. " Your Highness," A voice says " Your carriage has arrived" "I'll be right out." "Shall we proceed to loading your luggage, Princess?" "Yes, Thank You" I say " and make sure Leae is notified of its arrival." "As you wish, your Highness" I turn to look at the scene before me. My younger siblings asleep peacefully beside my father, his arms holding tightly to them, and tears began to well up in my eyes. I've never once left their side, not one time their entire lives, but now I am to live in a far off country with no idea as to when or if i'll ever see them again... Married to a man I do not know and do not love. I can feel my heartbreaking as I gently kiss their foreheads, making sure not to wake them from their slumber. "You two will always be the light of my life" I whisper " I want nothing more than for you to be safe and happy, and now I know you will be. I'm sorry I won't be here to watch you grow into the amazing people I know you'll become, my only hope is that one day you'll find the love that our parents once had. That finding it will free you from the sorrow you feel. I love you so very much" I walk over to my father, carefully looking over his features before gently kissing his forehead, too. " You've given so much to me, to my siblings" I say " for that, I will always be grateful. I know I haven't been the best daughter, I'm sorry for that, but you must know I never hated you. I was confused and Angry, and I blamed you for everything when none of it was your fault. I regret all of it. You're an amazing father, I should have let you in a long time ago, now i'll never get the chance. When you wake up, you're going to be angry and should we ever meet again, I know i'll never hear the end of it. But I can't risk you stopping me from doing what I am about to do. I hope you understand, Father. And I want you to know... I love you." I took a moment to gather myself, looking over every inch of his face and committing it to memory, before there was another knock on the door. "I'm coming" I say I walk over to the door, preparing myself for the journey that was about to start, but I wasn't ready for what greeted me on the other side. "Feyin" I say " Tell me its not true." He says " Tell me that lizard minion is out of his mind, you're not marrying that monsterous creature." "Feyin, I-" I say " I can't." "So you are? Are you serious, Fiere?!" He says "Keep your voice down" He notices everyone asleep behind me and looks at me in disbelief "You're not even going to wake them up?" he asks " you're just leaving without so much as a word of explanation? Of thanks?" "That is none of your concern-" "what about our promise, Fiere?" he asks " you agreed to marry me, remember?" "Things are more complicated then I thought-" "so lets fix that. together." he says " Don't give up on us no-" "your highness, is everything alright" A voice says " I heard voic-" Just then, Ielon came around the corner, seeing Feyin standing in front of me, his hand on my arm. Ielon's demeanor suddenly became cold, his gaze like icy daggers staring into me. I pull my arm away from Feyin, knowing if I didn't, Ielon would kill him. "There is no us, Sir Herschel" I say " We were kids who knew nothing of how this world works." "Fiere-" "Her highness does not have the time to concern herself with a mere soldier", Ielon says "Her betrothed awaits her arrival as we peak, so we must be going." Ielon walks over, putting himself between Feyin and Me without so much as glancing at Him. " I trust you have everything you need, Your highness?" Ielon asks "Yes, I do, Sir Ielon" "Wonderful, then shall we?" "Yes." "She's not going anywhere with the likes of you, Puny Lizard." Ielons deep green eyes suddenly started glowing, telling me he's angry. I walked over to Feyin, slapping him across the face. He looked at me in genuine shock, tears falling from my eyes. I had to do it. I didn't have any other option. " Guards!" I yell Two guards rushed over to use, taken aback by the sight before them. I knew i had no other choice but to do this, or I would lose him in a way I couldn't possibly bare. "Sir Herschel needs time to calm down" I say " Please escort him to his chambers." "Fie-" "Yes, Your Highness!" The guards struggled to grab hold of him as he reached out towards me, shouting my name, begging me not to do this. "My lady?" Ielon says, " the carriage?" Sir Ielon extended his hand to me, offering to guide me to the carriage that awaited my arrival. I look back to Feyin as the guards struggle to take him away. "I love you, I'm sorry" I mouth "Farewell" I took hold of Ielons extended hand, forcing myself to face the future as he led me to the carriage colored like the dawn. The night has finally come to an end, but how I already miss its sweet embrace.
