Chloe had to say, it felt so good to stand in front of Jaxson and challenge him.
She could see the conflicting emotions flash through his eyes. But she didn’t relent. Jaxson had been playing hide and seek for days and she was done with games.
“What will it be, Jaxson?” She crossed her arms over her chest and squared her shoulders. “I know you have spent every night in the room with me, just not while I am awake. You come in when I am asleep and leave before I wake up. Why are you avoiding me?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about. I have been busy with work… I own a company, remember?”
“Liar!” Chloe exclaimed, startling Jaxson and herself in the process. A moment passed. Their gazes remained locked from across the room. Her tone lowered. “That is a lie and you know it.”
