Chapter 5 – The Locked Door

1184 Words
Isabella’s heels clicked softly on the marble floor as she walked through the corridors, her eyes scanning the modern artwork and minimalist decor. Her curiosity, insatiable as ever, had been piqued earlier when she noticed a door at the far end of the hall, one Alexander never mentioned or showed her. It was subtle, almost hidden behind a dark panel, and the small, polished board simply read: “Restricted.” Isabella paused, her fingers brushing against the cold, metallic handle. Restricted. That’s an invitation, she thought, a sly smile tugging at her lips. “Let me see the secret he is hiding in this room" she thought. She leaned closer, looking through the faint opening at the door. The faint click of a security system made her heart skip a beat, but the thrill of discovering the unknown overpowered any caution. Her hands itched to push it open, just slightly, enough to glimpse what is inside. And then, a shadow fell across the floor behind her. “Curiosity can be dangerous.” Her breath stopped. Alexander’s deep voice filled the hallway, smooth yet edged with danger.Causing shiver down her spine,She turned slowly, finding him there. His dark eyes bored into hers, unflinching, unreadable. “I—” she started, trying to mask her surprise with a confident tone. “I was just… admiring the craftsmanship of this door.” Alexander’s brow lifted, a faint smirk playing at the corner of his lips. “Admiring? Or testing boundaries?” “Cat got your tongue.." You don't run your mouth right??? Her heartbeat quickened at his words, a mixture of thrill and warning. “Maybe a little of both,” she admitted, daring him with a teasing glance. Without another word, Alexander moved. In a fluid, controlled motion, he closed the distance between them. Before she could react, his hand was on the door handle, blocking her access completely. His other hand pressed hard against the wall near her shoulder, effectively pinning her in place, causing her to flinch. The sudden closeness, the warmth of his body, and the raw intensity in his eyes made Isabella’s breath catch. She could feel the power radiating from him—dominant, dangerous, and impossibly magnetic. “You shouldn’t touch what’s off-limits,” he murmured, his voice low, almost a growl. The word off-limits seemed to echo, heavy and charged, vibrating through the tense air. Isabella lifted her chin and maintaining her posture again , refusing to back down. “I’m not afraid of boundaries,” she said, voice steady, though a flicker of excitement ran through her. “Sometimes, what’s forbidden… is the most interesting.”You shouldn't have put Restricted there cause it is make people like me curious to know what is inside..she said. Alexander’s gaze darkened. He leaned closer, the space between them Deepening until she could feel the warmth of his chest against her arm. “You’re playing a dangerous game,” he said, each word deliberate with desire. “And some games… end badly.” “I like danger,” she whispered, almost involuntarily. Her pulse raced, the thrill of teasing him—and being teased in return—sending shivers down her spine. He studied her for a long, tense moment. Then, with a controlled but unmistakable force, he pinner her gently but firmly against the wall, his hand at the nape of her neck keeping her in place. The pressure was enough to send her heart hammering, yet not enough to truly harm her. “You’re insatiable,” he said quietly, his eyes scanning her face like he was memorizing every reaction. “Curiosity… confidence… arrogance… all wrapped in that little smirk of yours.” Isabella tilted her head, meeting his gaze without flinching. “And you? Dangerous, controlling, impossible… Yet here you are, holding me against the wall.” Her voice was soft, teasing, but her pulse raced, betraying her composure. Alexander’s lips twitched into the faintest smirk, though his eyes never left hers. “Holding you in check,” he corrected, his tone edged with both warning and something darker, something she could almost taste in the air between them. The hallway felt smaller, the tension between them thicker, almost suffocating. Isabella’s breath slowed as his hand traced lightly along the wall, close to her face, stopping just by the tip of her hair . The slightest movement made her heart lurch, every nerve alive with both fear and fascination. “You should leave it alone,” he murmured again, the heat of his body brushing against hers sending a thrill straight through her chest. “And miss the chance to find out what’s behind it?” Isabella said daring him with a sly, knowing smile. “Not a chance.” Alexander’s jaw tightened, a low exhale escaping him. He stepped back slightly, though the tension in the air didn’t cease .Instead, it seemed to pulse between them like electricity, charged and dangerous. His hand lingered near hers on the door handle, almost brushing, almost teasing, but never quite touching. “Some lines,” he said slowly, his gaze dark and unreadable, “are meant to stay… uncrossed. Curiosity has a cost.” Isabella felt a shiver run through her body. She could almost hear the thrill of the forbidden calling her, the danger of defying him making her pulse accelerate. “Maybe I’m willing to pay it,” she whispered, her lips so close to his that she felt the warmth of his breath. Alexander’s hand finally left the wall and hovered near her shoulder, just close enough to make her pulse spike. He didn’t speak, didn’t move further, but the intensity of his gaze pinned her more firmly than any physical hold could. His fingers grazed the tip of her Neck, leaning down.. The,moment was cut of as Alexander’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He stepped back, his expression hardening, yet his eyes never leaving Isabella. She straightened, trying to regain composure, though her heart still raced from the encounter. The hallway was quiet again, the city lights casting long shadows. Isabella glanced at the door, the locked secrets behind it, and back at him. Her pulse still raced. Alexander, calm yet unreadable. “Curiosity,” he said quietly, his eyes boring into hers, “is dangerous. Don’t forget that.. She smiled faintly, a mix of triumph and anticipation. “Neither is temptation,” she whispered, before walking away, heels clicking against the marble, leaving him standing there, dark and brooding, a storm of desire and frustration showing on his face. “" f**k…..He hit his hand on the wall next to him , pouring his frustration on it. Alexander watched her leave, jaw tight, hand brushing against the empty wall where she had been pressed moments ago. She’s inside my head, he thought, teeth gritting in frustration. Bold. Reckless. Tempting. And I can’t let her forget… I’m in control. And yet, a small, reluctant part of him wanted to see how far she’d go. The door remained closed, its secrets still hidden. But the game… had only just begun.
