Chapter 3: MATE PULL

1108 Words
AMIRATA The hall began booming with raging noises as voices rose from every corner, people loudly questioning who Alpha Nathan would give out in marriage to finalize the peace deal. Excited whispers mixed with shocked murmurs, and at the same time many of them kept pointing their fingers toward me as if my name was already written in the decision. Tamara suddenly snapped her head toward me, her eyes wide with excitement, and she quickly grabbed my hand, shaking it slightly as if she could barely contain the thrill running through her body. “I want my father to choose me, Rata,” she beamed brightly. My jaw dropped open in pure shock, and I immediately began shaking my head repeatedly, completely stunned by the words that had just come out of her mouth. “Remember I told you before? I always wanted to be mated to a powerful Alpha,” she continued excitedly, tightening her hold on my hands “And now the Goddess is about to bless me with the Lycan King.” “You shouldn’t wish for something like that, Mara,” I warned her quietly, my brows pulling together in concern. “That man is still our enemy.” But Tamara was already far gone in her excitement. She turned away from me completely, her attention drifting back toward the stage as if she was already imagining herself standing there beside the Lycan King. Honestly, the whole situation sounded strange and unrealistic to me. I knew Uncle Nathan very well. He would never throw his own daughter into danger like that, not to mention offering her hand in marriage to the Lycan King in the name of peace. Tamara was the pride of the pack, the beloved daughter of the Alpha. If anything, he would definitely use someone else as the sacrifice. And that person would be me. Just as the chaotic whispers in the hall began growing louder, Uncle Nathan suddenly raised his hand into the air. Immediately, the entire hall dropped into dead silence. The loud discussions stopped at once, and every single person in the room fixed their attention on the stage, waiting for the Alpha’s decision. “I am giving my beloved daughter, Tamara, in marriage to Lycan King Antonie Thonemus,” Uncle Nathan announced proudly, a wide smile spreading across his face as his powerful voice echoed throughout the massive hall. The words hit the crowd like thunder. Gasps spread across the hall as people stared at the stage in complete disbelief. Several jaws dropped open, and shocked whispers began spreading everywhere. No one had expected that. Not even in their wildest dreams would the Alpha give his beloved daughter to the Lycan King, the very ruler they had called their enemy for years. “Yess!” Tamara screamed loudly at the top of her voice, her happiness completely uncontrollable. She suddenly threw her arms around me and pulled me into a tight hug, her body trembling with excitement while tears streamed down her cheeks. “My dream came true, Amirata,” she cried happily, her voice breaking with overwhelming emotion. I opened my mouth to respond, but the words refused to come out. I was beyond speechless. My mind was still trying to process everything that had just happened. What the heck was going on? “It is already a full moon. Let the mating begin.” Luna Meredith’s elegant voice echoed through the entire hall, her tone calm but commanding as she stood beside Alpha Nathan. Tamara immediately released me and rushed excitedly toward the stage. Luna Meredith pulled her into a warm embrace, while Alpha Nathan placed several proud kisses on Tamara’s head as if celebrating a great victory. Watching the three of them together made something inside my chest tighten. The way they were smiling, the way they were embracing Tamara with such pride… It almost looked like this entire moment had been planned long before tonight. Tamara soon moved to stand beside the Lycan King. The Lycan King subtly stepped away from her, avoiding even the slightest touch between them. But Tamara didn’t seem to care. For the first time in many years, I saw pride swelling openly in her eyes. Her entire posture had changed as if she had already stepped into a new position of power. She slowly lifted her head to look at the Lycan King, her gaze shining with admiration. Gosh… My cousin was already completely fascinated by him. Suddenly, people all over the hall began moving into straight lines. Everyone understood what was about to happen. They were waiting. Waiting for that spark. That invisible magnetic pull created by the Moon Goddess herself, the force that would guide every wolf toward their destined mate. I slowly closed my eyes and took a quiet breath. “Oh Goddess… I don’t care who my mate is,” I whispered softly under my breath. “Just let his dreams and wishes align with mine.” After whispering the prayer from the depths of my heart, I stepped forward and joined the line with the others. One by one, wolves began moving. Some rushed across the hall toward each other, their faces filled with disbelief and joy. Others collapsed into their mate’s arms, crying openly while thanking the Moon Goddess again and again for blessing them. The sight was deeply emotional. But not everyone was lucky. Some wolves remained standing in their places, their expressions slowly falling into heartbreak when they realized that no one was coming for them. And I was one of them. Tears slowly pooled in my eyes, but I stubbornly refused to let them spill over. Because I had already made my decision. I didn’t want to spend another moment in this hall. Thankfully, I had secretly packed some of my belongings earlier, just in case something like this happened tonight. Maybe they were right about me. Maybe I really was cursed. Maybe I simply didn’t deserve a mate. I slowly turned around and began walking toward the large doors of the hall, trying to leave before anyone noticed me. But the moment I reached the entrance— I suddenly felt something. My heart slammed violently against my ribs. I couldn’t move, but I felt something inside me snapped awake. “Mate!” a tiny cute angelic voice whispered in my head. My eyes widened as it dawned on me that it was my wolf speaking. She stirred restlessly beneath my skin. I grabbed the door for support as a strange pull tightened around my chest. What was happening to me? Shockingly the entire hall behind me went silent.
