If it weren't for his 'sudden attack,' I might have thought about what he said.

"Thanks, sir, but I'm here to enroll my daughter."
With that, I quickly walked out of the elevator, pulling Mellie towards the enrollment office.
"Mommy, why isn't that sir coming with us?"
"He has his own things to do, sweetie. After we finish enrolling, I'll take you to eat your favorite steak."
Nash watched the woman and girl walk away, a voice in his head ringing out.
"Oh, you've lost her. You've lost your destined mate!"
In the previously empty corridor, a silver-white wolf suddenly appeared, as if it could speak, standing beside Nash with its mouth open.
Nash's expression grew darker as he turned to glare at the wolf, as if reprimanding it, "Shut up!"
The wolf continued, "Nash, you should go after her. Your body's reaction just now told you everything. That woman is your destined mate."
"Enough, I know. But she already has a child... that child..."
"No matter what, you should try to approach her. Her reappearance in your life is the Moon Goddess' blessing."
Nash seemed convinced, his face tense as he took out his phone and dialed a number.
"I need you to investigate a woman for me. I want to know everything about her."

Hailey's Perspective
After finishing the enrollment process, I took Mellie out for a lavish dinner to celebrate the new chapter of our lives.
Starting tomorrow, I would start to find a job.
To secure the single mother benefits, I didn't even have time to look for a job beforehand. Fortunately, the state governed by Governor Anders had the best economy in the country, so finding work shouldn't be a problem.
At least, that was what I thought.
"We're fully staffed."
"Your qualifications don't match our requirements."
"We're sorry to inform you..."
After being rejected by three places in a row, I started to suspect I was on some kind of blacklist by mischievous spirits.
"Oh, God, I need to find a job today!"
I sighed deeply and checked my phone when a message suddenly popped up.
"If you need a job, call this number. Seeking a maid for a household with pets. Salary starts at $10,000 with no upper limit, negotiable."
A maid?
While raising Mellie, I worked part-time at a pet store. I loved dogs, and they were always friendly to me. If the salary was good, taking care of pets could be easier than taking care of people.
With that thought, I dialed the number on my phone.
"This is where you'll be working, Miss."
When the chauffeur, dressed in a black suit, brought me to the mansion, I was stunned.
The place was so luxurious. It was like a castle.
"May I ask who the owner of this place is?"
The driver kept his mouth tightly shut, silent as a statue.
"And what exactly will my job entail?"
The driver seemed to switch on like a robot. "You only need to come to the mansion every day and take care of the pets. Currently, only the pets are at home."
Hearing that the "castle's" owner wasn't home, I felt relieved.
The driver drove another ten minutes before dropping me off on the mansion's vast lawn.
As soon as I got out, I saw a beautiful silver-white canine creature lying on the grass.
The driver seemed to be very respectful towards it, standing at a distance with his head lowered, not daring to approach.
Perhaps earning the trust of this creature was my first task.
Thinking about the zeros in the salary, I took a deep breath and walked towards the silver-white dog.
"Oh, Moon Goddess... She's bold!"
"Heavens, look at this brave lady..."
"That's our master, and she... Shh, remember what the butler said?"
I heard the servants murmuring around me and couldn't help but look in their direction.
At that moment, the silver-white dog leaped up and charged towards me!
It wasn't until it stood up that I saw its enormous size. I was startled, and before I could react... it knocked me to the ground!

My mind screamed!
If it wanted to attack me, my neck would be bitten off instantly!
I closed my eyes in fear.
However, the tearing pain didn't come. Instead, it licked my cheeks affectionately, covering my face with slobber!
"Oh, my goodness... You're so friendly!"
I couldn't help but stroke its cheeks. Thinking about the $10,000 salary within reach, I felt even more delighted.
"Thank you for liking me, cutie."
I gave it a big kiss on the cheek.
What I didn't know was that...
At that moment, far away in his office, Nash was sitting in a conference room, his face bright red.
In front of him were dozens of company executives, all waiting for him to lead the meeting.
He was burning with heat, his whole body flushed because of the sensations his wolf was transmitting.
Never in his life had he felt so out of control.
Except for that one night!
He took a deep breath and spoke again, his voice husky with desire, "I think we've covered everything for today. We should take a break."
"Duke, regarding the proposal to eliminate the remnants of the Thebes faction..."
"The remnants of Thebes were eradicated in the last sweep. I trust my people have done their job well, so... Marquis Garcia, there's no need to discuss this further."
Nash packed up his things and stood up.
"Is there anything else?"
Roland Garcia looked displeased. "Duke, you've known Anna since childhood. If you can't find your mate to produce an heir... Well, the Anders family can't remain without a Luna forever. Perhaps consider making Anna your temporary mate?"
Anna was Roland's daughter, and he had always hoped his daughter would control the Anders family as its mistress.
In the past, Nash hadn't cared about the Luna thing.
But now...
His destined mate had appeared.
"Marquis Garcia, I believe I will find my mate soon."
With that, Nash left the conference room without looking back.
As soon as he left, Nash teleported back to his office.
Alone in the room, he clenched his fists and shouted, his face flushed red.
"Oh, Moon Goddess! That woman... she's 'touching' me..."
