Chapter 6 Homeless?

840 Words
"Virgil, enough! Make her stop!" Nash shouted hoarsely in his mind. Virgil, the canine creature which was actually a silver-white wolf, showed no sign of stopping. "Oh, my, she's so sweet. Look at how good she is to me, even giving me a massage... Nash, you can feel it now, can't you? She is definitely your destined mate!" Nash's body was tense while his desire roared to hold Hailey who was far away in his mansion. But he knew it wasn't a good idea. She was a mother and probably a wife. If he told her she was his destined mate, it would probably scare her away. "Enough, Virgil... That's enough. Let her stay, so she can be with you every day." "What about you? Don't you want to be with your mate and have children?" Nash suddenly remembered the little girl Mellie. She had the same golden hair as him, but her eye color was completely different. Werewolf traits like hair and eye color are always inherited by their offspring, so she couldn't possibly be his child. Nash's temperature cooled a bit. Virgil sensed his low spirits and cut off communication. A knock on the door suddenly sounded. At the next moment, Anna's voice came from outside. "Nash, it's me..." Nash frowned and opened the door. "Anna..." "I heard you didn't take my father's advice. I think you should listen to him. He's older than you and more experienced... You used such bloody and violent methods to suppress Thebes. They will definitely seek revenge. Let my father..." Anna seemed a bit desperate. After all, Roland hadn't achieved much in recent years, and his power in his family had diminished. Now Anna was also falling out of favor, so both father and daughter were trying every means to impress Nash. "Anna, I hope you understand that I am now the Alpha of the Anders family." Nash's voice turned cold. Anna went pale, realizing she had said the wrong thing. "I'm sorry, Nash. I didn't mean to..." "Moreover, during the last raid on the remnants of Thebes, Marquis Garcia disappeared at the height of the battle. I overlooked it for your sake. Do you want me to punish him for that now?" Anna's face turned even paler. "I'm sorry, Nash..." "Enough, Anna. I'm tired." With that, Nash closed the door. Anna looked at the firmly closed door and remembered how Nash had never rejected her so coldly before. It was all because of that woman, which was Hailey! Anna loved Nash deeply and quickly shifted her hatred towards Hailey. I grew up with Nash, I've accompanied him for so many years, and before she appeared, Nash was always kind and gentle to me! She took out her phone and called Roland. "Dad, I need you to investigate a woman. She could be our greatest threat in the future!" Hope that woman wasn't the mate Nash had found back then... No matter who she was, if she became a threat, I would eliminate her! ***** Hailey's Perspective The new job I found was surprisingly easy, by far the easiest job I've ever had. And the pay was incredible. This made me curious about my boss, the owner of this mansion. No matter who he was, I was grateful for his generosity, which allowed me to offer Mellie steak every day. "Cole, is he not coming home on time today either?" Since I started working at this mansion, the owner had never returned before I left. Cole, the gardener, was my new friend, and we often chatted on the lawn. His face changed slightly at my question. I somehow felt he was hiding something. "Oh, yes, Hailey... and you can go home early today." I always felt like my boss was avoiding me. But that was obviously impossible. Why would he avoid me? When I picked up Mellie and got home, I saw a red Mercedes parked downstairs. As I passed by, I saw a familiar face, the woman we met in the principal's office on Mellie's enrollment day. She was wearing sunglasses and sitting in the car, head down. For some reason, I had a strange feeling. It seemed like she was watching me! I tightened my grip on Mellie's hand and quickly went inside. Locking the door firmly, I warned Mellie, "Mellie, no matter who knocks tonight, don't open the door, okay?" Mellie nodded obediently. Just as I was preparing dinner, my landlord called. "What? You're suddenly evicting us?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "But isn't this a welfare apartment provided by Governor Anders for single mothers?" "Yeah, but someone offered a high price for the property and agreed to pay my penalty fee. I requested to remove it from the welfare list. The buyer's move-in deadline is very short. I need you out tonight... I can give you some compensation, but you'll have to figure out the rest yourself." "Even if you sell the property, tenants have the right to stay. I'll report this to the state government!"
