Ava's pov
Ava sat in her sleek, modern office, sipping her coffee as she stared out the window at the Manhattan skyline. It was hard to believe it had been a few weeks since she'd returned to the States, determined to take down her ex-husband and his family.
James walked in, a folder in his hand. "Good morning, Ava. I have the documents you requested."
Ava's eyes narrowed as she took the folder. "What did you find out?"
James leaned against the desk. "Blackwood Industries is planning to launch a new sustainable energy project. It's a huge deal, Ava. If they succeed, they'll corner the market."
Ava's mind was already racing. "And if we can sabotage it...?"
James smiled. "Maron could swoop in and steal the spotlight. We could offer a competing project, one that's even better."
Ava's eyes sparkled with determination. "Let's do it. I want to bring Blackwood Industries to its knees."
James nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "I'll start digging. See what I can find out about their project."
As James left, Ava felt a thrill of excitement. This was it. This was her chance to finally take revenge on the people who had wronged her.
But as she delved deeper into the documents, a nagging voice in her head began to question her motives. Was this really about justice, or was it just about revenge?
Ava pushed the doubts aside, focusing on the task at hand. She would stop at nothing to bring down Blackwood Industries.
Even if it meant sacrificing a part of herself.
As Ava poured over the documents, her mind racing with strategies and tactics, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was walking a thin line. Between justice and revenge. Between right and wrong.
She pushed the doubts aside, focusing on the task at hand. She would bring down Blackwood Industries, no matter the cost.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a text from James.
"Meet me at the coffee shop on 5th and Main at 2 pm. I have some information about the sustainable energy project."
Ava's heart skipped a beat. This could be it. The break they needed to take down Blackwood Industries.
She arrived at the coffee shop early, her eyes scanning the crowded room for James. He was already there, sitting in the corner, a cup of coffee in front of him.
"Ava," he said, as she slid into the chair across from him. "I've got some good news. I managed to get my hands on the project's blueprints."
Ava's eyes widened. "That's amazing. How did you do it?"
James smiled. "Let's just say I have my ways."
Ava leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "What do the blueprints reveal?"
James hesitated, his eyes darting around the room before focusing on Ava. "It's not good. The project is much bigger than we thought. And there's something else... something that could change everything."
Ava's heart was racing. "What is it?"
James leaned in closer. "I'll tell you, but you have to promise me one thing."
Ava nodded, her eyes locked on James. "Anything."
James' voice was barely audible. "You have to promise me you'll be careful. This is bigger than we thought, Ava. And there are people who will stop at nothing to keep it under wraps."
Ava's eyes narrowed. "I promise."
But as she left the coffee shop, the blueprints clutched in her hand, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in over her head.
As Ava walked back to her office, her mind was racing with the implications of what James had told her. The sustainable energy project was bigger than she had thought, and there were people who would stop at nothing to keep it under wraps.
She felt a shiver run down her spine as she wondered who those people might be. Was it just Damon and his family, or were there others involved?
When she arrived at her office, she locked the door behind her and spread the blueprints out on her desk. She studied them intently, looking for any clues that might reveal what James had hinted at.
As she pored over the documents, she began to notice something strange. There were several pages that seemed to be missing, and the ones that were there appeared to be coded.
Ava's eyes narrowed as she realized that James must have given her a partial set of blueprints. But why?
She picked up her phone and dialed James' number. "What's going on, James?" she asked, trying to keep her tone neutral. "Why did you only give me part of the blueprints?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line before James spoke up. "I'm sorry, Ava. I had to be careful. There are people watching, and I didn't want to risk anyone finding out what we're planning."
Ava's eyes narrowed. "Who's watching?"
"I don't know," James admitted. "But I have a feeling that we're in over our heads, Ava. We need to be careful."
Ava's grip on her phone tightened. "I can take care of myself, James."
"I know you can," James said softly. "But I'm worried about you, Ava. You're getting in deep, and I don't want to see you get hurt."
Ava's heart softened at James' words. He was looking out for her, and she appreciated that.
"Thanks, James," she said, trying to sound calmer than she felt. "I'll be careful."
As she hung up the phone, Ava couldn't shake off the feeling that she was indeed in over her head. But she was determined to see this through, no matter what.
