I headed downstairs, with a small smile playing on my lips. She didn't chase me just yet, and she let me have her. Lila was awake when I told her that I loved her. I knew that much, but it didn't matter. She was going to be saying it soon enough. We had made progress. More than enough progress.
She was already glowing up, and blushing so hard. I wanted to pull her hair back, and kiss her hard. She wouldn't let me do that to her though.
“Uncle Lucien!” The kids practically screamed as I headed downstairs. They ran over, hugging me. I could barely hold back my smile.
“James and Anna, right?” I asked, and they both nodded enthusiastically.
