Chapter 7

730 Words
Aurora suddenly burst into a shrill cry. "Young Master. My child is gone." Dorian's heart tightened. He raised his hand to stop the physician who was about to go examine Theodore, and said coldly to Isabella, "Go admit your fault." Isabella looked at his cold face in shock and said with a trembling voice, "A human life is more important than anything. Let the physician treat my father first." Aurora cried and shouted, "Isabella, your father's life is more important than anything, but my child's life is as cheap as grass to you? This was the young master's first child." Dorian's hand, which had been about to lower, lifted again. He stared at Isabella and repeated coldly, "Go admit your fault." Isabella's eyes turned red. Snow still covered the face that had just struggled out of the snowdrift. She did not hesitate and shouted loudly, "Mrs. Aurora, I am sorry." Aurora cried even more miserably. "Is Isabella's apology so precious that it can exchange for my child's life?" Isabella's gaze fell on the upright figure of Dorian, but the words were directed at Aurora. "What do you want me to do?" Aurora climbed out of the bed and slowly walked to the doorway. The blood on her clothes had not yet dried. When it dripped to the ground it froze into ice. She asked with obvious malice, "If I tell you what I want, will you give it?" As she spoke, she suddenly took out a pair of scissors hidden in her sleeve and rushed toward Isabella. Rosie saw the cold flash in her hand and immediately felt alarmed. She quickly let go of the old master and stepped in front of Isabella, who had not yet noticed. The sound of metal entering flesh was heard. Isabella watched helplessly as Rosie, who had been lively just moments before, lost all color in her face and slowly fell to the ground in front of her. Blood splattered across Aurora's face and continued to drip down. She leaned close to Isabella's ear and said cruelly, "I want you to repay a life." Isabella's eyes widened. She trembled as she lifted Rosie, whose face had begun to turn gray. She wanted to speak, but no sound came out of her throat. Her mouth opened as she gasped for breath. Tears poured down as the redness on her frostbitten face slowly faded. Rosie was the maid who had come with her as part of her marriage dowry. During these three years in the heir's residence, she had been the only one who stayed by Isabella's side. The two of them were like real sisters, keeping each other company in this unfamiliar residence. "Rosie?" As if coming back to her senses, Isabella softly called her name, afraid that speaking too loudly might frighten her. Rosie's eyelashes trembled slightly. Lying on the ground, she felt the cold and hard earth beneath her and suddenly thought that when her young lady had been forced to kneel there just now, it must have been terribly cold. She could not stop herself from coughing up several mouthfuls of blood. In a broken voice she said, "Young Lady, go home." Isabella forced herself not to cry out. Her face turned red from holding it in as she nodded. "Yes. Rosie, we are going home." She looked at Dorian with grief, anger, and unfamiliar coldness in her eyes. "Are you satisfied now?" Dorian looked at her resolute and cold expression. A trace of uneasiness rose in his chest. She had never looked at him like this before. He suppressed the uneasiness in his heart and turned his eyes away. "Aurora is only overwhelmed with grief. Do not blame her." Isabella raised her head and looked at the sky. Her voice was extremely soft. "So now, can the physician treat my father?" Theodore slowly regained consciousness. The first thing he saw was his daughter still wearing her white underclothes, now stained red. It was impossible to tell whether the blood was hers or Rosie's. His eyes turned bloodshot as he shouted angrily, "Dorian. I must have been blind back then to marry my daughter to you. A mere bed servant plays a few tricks and you shut your eyes and ears." As he spoke, he struggled to his feet. "Today, you will write this separation letter whether you want to or not."
