It pulled me straight into this mess.” He nodded toward the book in her hands. “The people who framed me are after that. The substance inside isn’t ordinary either. It’s part of something I’ve been researching recently.” Delilah’s brows pulled together in confusion. “Wait… you mean your research?” Mattew nodded once. “It’s complicated. I’ll explain everything properly once this is over.” She studied him for a moment longer, then her shoulders dropped slightly. “I trust you.” Mattew turned toward the car and opened the door. “I have to go now.”
