"Can I see this?" Ibixa touches the glass box of the ring that caught her eyes—even her heart. The ring band is black and on the center part of it is a hint of a glow in the dark deep blue. The mysterious gleams' ligthing the rings intricate details.
It looks so mysterious and unique, like Endeavor Mendeleev.
Carefully, the attendant let her see the ring. She cautiously took it and put the smaller ring on her finger. Ibixa turn to Piper, showing her the mysterious looking ring.
"What do you think?" she asked half-smiling. Piper's lip twitches. If we'll base on the way her face contorted. Sure thing, she doesn't like the ring.
"It's too dark. It has this menacing vibe. I-It's creepy," Piper whispered the last word. She redeemed her composure and smiles at the attendant who's helping them with all of their inquiry.
Ibixa's amusement and fascination didn't fade nor falter after hearing her sister-in-laws opinion about the ring. Truth to be told, she likes it better than before.
"I'll have this. Do I get to have that glass box too?" she asks, pertaining to the container. The woman smiles at her.
"I'll get this pink diamond studs." Ibixa heard Piper says. The other Mendeleev hit her hard on her arms after she saw that the staff is readying the pair of rings and its container.
"I already told you. The rings looks creepy." Ibixa turn around. She held Piper's chin up making their eyes met.
"Your brother doesn't look like someone who'll want to have a wedding ring with infinity designs and all. I think he'll go ask someone to put that kind of ring away," she said to defend her decision.
Ibixa grab her wallet from her bag and handed a black card to the attendant. Piper tsked. She croses her arm and placed it against her chest then give Ibixa her poker face
"And you think he'll love that creepy thing?" she nodded immediately. Of course, he will and he must too. That rings costs 250, 000 pesos. That's a big amount of cash to burn for a pair of rings.
"Let's eat first." Piper suggested as the walks out of the jewery shops.
"Where do you want to eat?" Piper asks her.
This isn't the first time they hangout. Sure thing, this isn't the first time they'll eat out on a fine resto. They've been doing it for years. Ibixa wants to try something new.
"Have you ever tried eating street foods?" she mumbles as they stroll around, looking for a perfect place to eat. Piper gave her confused look.
"Street foods like those round-orangy thing I see in every corner of street?" Ibixa snaps
"Yes! That thing, that... they call that... kwek-kwek. Do you wanna try it?" Ibixa said with her puppy eyes. Piper removed her hands from Ibixa's arm.
"No way, are you out of your mind? You know what, you're hungry. Come on, let's eat." Piper pulled her towards a pedestrian lane. The two of them were about to cross when a newsflash starts playing in an electronic billboard.
Ibixa's feet turned dead cold. Her eyes started to swell and tears lingers on the corner of it.
"Ibixa." She gasped. With trembling hand. She pointed the electronic billboard to Piper.
"You're..." She breathe in deeply. Ibixa's running out of air already. She can't process those words that she have read, and the pictures that she sees. It's their massion. Her parents has been brutally killed!
"Help! Please, help!" Piper shouted. Clutching on her chest while in tears she keeps herself steady as she tried to speak.
"Tell me, Piper. Tell me t-that I'm just imagining things. Y-you're not seeing what I am seeing, r-right? M-My parents are safe." Her voice broke. Her hands is almost losing their strength, but still... she tried to reach for her mobile phone inside of her bag.
After her last attempt of calling her mother the day she arrives at the Mendeleev's Villa, she never tried breaking Ender's rule again, even if obliging with it is killing her, but now, she don't care even if he gets furious and hurt her again. She wanted to confirm the news.
"They're not answering. Maxence is not answering his phone either."
"I'll call Kuya Ender, maybe he knows," Piper whispered. Ibixa could no longer tame her tears. People who were busy passing by the pedestrian lane is looking at her with curious eyes.
With a sad face. Piper gave Ibixa her phone. "Kuya is on the other line," she said. With a second thought, she grabbed her sister-in-law's phone.
"Ender, I-I saw a news... It's about my parents. T-they were killed... brutally at our mansion in Santiago. Tell... me, please. Tell me it isn't... true." His silence makes her heart skip a beat.
Silence means yes. She looks at the electronic billboard. The newsflash ended. Ibixa lose all of her strength. Piper's phone slip out of her hands as she falls and lost her consciousness too.
Minutes after Ibixa lost her consciousness, an ambulance and medic came for help. She was rushed on the nearest hospital.
Fidgetting and walking back 'n forth. Piper feels like she'll be insane too. She can't handle a situation like this. She doesn't know how she'll try to calm Ibixa if she wake up. She needs Ender.
Piper tried to stop herself from walking as she dialed her brother's phone, not minding the crack on its screen. She sighed heavily and mutter curses she knows in different languages.
He isn't answering! Her frustration doubled. "f**k all the reasons why you're not coming home, Endeavor. I swear, if you don't show up tonight. I'll help Ibixa get away from you," she whispered to herself before she stares back at the emergency room. She bite her lips and before she can even notice it, tears are falling from her eyes too. She couldn't help but pitty her friend.
