Lily “Wanna talk to you, Hawk,” Maverick said, his voice gruff. “Oh, yeah?” Dad said, his tone demeaning. “Don’t patronize me,” Maverick ground out. “You talk to me like a man, or I’m takin’ Lily home with me.” Mom raised an eyebrow in my direction, and I shook my head.
