"What exactly do you mean"Devin asked
" Just that Devin. She is bringing the damned girl over" Lenore replied as he thought that Devin was now mirroring Chris's attitude.
" The lady has sure gone out of her mind, the girl does not know a thing about rules and sure as hell doesn't belong here" Devin stated.
"Am not so sure of that" Lenore replied. He looked around for any sign of listeners before dropping his voice to a low level.
" I can't assure you that I am right but I know there is an atom of truth in it" Lenore said " The DuPonts have a life long tradition of keeping their offsprings at home and killing half casts the moment they are born in front of their parents"
" What does that mean" Devin asked.
" Martha DuPont doesn't do things without solid reasons, so you tell me why she would bring in the girl without one" Lenore asked "There is something going on in the DuPont empire " he said to Devin " And am pretty sure Matilda is the center of it all"
" You really think ..." Devin's question was interrupted as a guard announced the arrival of guests.
" We will finish this conversation later" Lenore said as he headed for the door and Devin followed.
It was already night Matilda noted, and it took them the whole evening to get to the Beareau. The place was a whole kind of different compared to where aunt Martha lived, they had clubs and hotels everywhere and it looked more like a city than a town. Well she still preferred her aunt's place, except for the creepiness.
They had gone into a mansion that was too tremendous to be called one and had been asked to wait in the living room downstairs. She took the liberty to study the room they were in, the ceiling was made of glass and had a strange intricateness to it that baffled her, it had carvings that looked like symbols which also matched with those on the floor tiles.
what a taste, she thought as the door opened and two guards excorted her aunts inside.
" Feel free to tour what we have down here" one of the men said before closing the door.
Feel free to tour, the man had said but aunt Martha had warned her about watching her steps.
Feeling indecisive she sat down on the couch and studied the room some more, but when she got tired she stood up and decided to give her self a tour. What's the worst that can happen, she thought as she opened the door through which the guards had taken her aunts and passed through.
The hallway was dark and had two parts, one lead to a dark under ground layer while the other lead to an illuminated staircase. Weighing her options she thought to go tour the illuminated part since she didn't know what might be in the dark. She took a deep breath before taking a step.
" The minor Covens won't be pleased if the barrenness spreads" Martha stated looking lord Dante in the eye " And it would only take a matter of time before it gets to the Beareau"
" So you say" lord Dante replied in his icy cold voice, his eyes mirrored his eyes and contained specks of grey, his hair was white and his posture was as rigid as his expression.
" A blunt blackmail works Lady Martha, but make the words a bit less blunt"
" You think this is a blackmail " Martha asked in a slightly angry tone " The Barrels are up against all of us Dante and you better realize that"
Dante narrowed his eyes at Martha's informality but didn't comment on it.
" We are up against each other My lady and that is what should make you weary"
" True enough" Martha replied " But that doesn't mean we don't have the same threats"
" The Barrels have strong powerful magical sources " Magi chipped in " And we need more to bring them down"
Alex and Martha shot her a deadly eye before turning back to the Base lord who seemed to have picked interest in Magi's statement.
" More powerful sources" Dante said thoughtfully.
" Not as powerful as ours" Alex defended " But a collaboration is needed to win this"
" And why would you need collaboration" Dante asked " When you have more power"
" We have no course to prove power to you, we only need support"
A long silence went through the room before the Base lord spoke up.
" For years, the Beareau have been after one thing which have proved hard to get" he said " You give us what we want and we give you support"
" We are not becoming magical slaves used for drug dealing" Martha spat .
Her outburst brought a smile to lord Dante's face.
Matilda have been walking through the hallways whilst touring the house and she had nothing but praises to attest.
She had seen a library, a game room and even a room full of weapons which she would admit had thrilled her. She had never seen a garden which such vastness as theirs, and neither had she seen a house that had a theatre that was as big as that of a cinema.
The hallways were empty except for the guards who stood like stone status and only blinked minutes after staring holes into different parts of her body. Well, she always got these type of reactions back in Carlifonia but had never thought of them as perverted until now.
They have no right, she thought as she silently fumed before walking as fast as possible to get out of their site.
She had over heard her aunts talking about Lenore on their way here and wondered if she would be seeing him around. He sure doesn't stick to his words she thought before mentally scolding herself for thinking about him.
She continued her walk till she got to a door which was blood red in colour, she didn't know why but she had felt this a slight pull in her chest when she saw it.
Slowly, she proceeded to open the door even though her instincts screamed at her to get back. On opening the door she saw that the room was dark and empty except for a slight red light that pulsed in its center.
She was entranced, so entranced that she forgot to close the door properly before approaching the light, she wanted to Know its source.
And behold it was a red flower, a red rose which was enclosed in a glass casing. She felt it call to her, felt the cold shiver run down her skin as her hands reached out to open the casing while her mind screamed to run away from it.
" What on earth are you trying to do" a harsh hoarse voice asked from behind, which stilled her hands and had her whirling around in panic
