I was beyond relieved when the bell had finally rang. I've never ran from a class so fast. I ran straight to the bathroom and text Chloe telling her to meet me in the bathroom. "What is going on Lucy, and why does it look like the moon shapes are shimmering in your eyes?" "What do you mean shimmering?" I saw what she meant when I looked in the mirror, I blinked a few times and they finally looked normal again. "Chloe remember that voice I heard this morning about Johnny?" I asked. "Yeah why?" "I heard it again in class right after the new guy introduced himself as Johnny Williams." "What the actual f*** are you talking about Lucy?" " There's. new guy named Johnny Williams in school. That woman's voice warned me not to make eye contact or the life I live will no longer be the same." My mom called the school and got us let out early. Chloe had called and told her I wasn't feeling myself. I really just wanted to go home and figure out why today has been so weird. The walk was silent but those paw prints were still there but, this time we noticed they led almost all the way to the house we live in. Ever since that dream nothing has been normal. We went straight to my room both getting on our laptops digging deeper into that child that was found fifteen years ago. After two hours of digging I noticed a look on Chloe's face that concerned me. I walked over to where she was sitting from my reading book trying to see what was on her screen. she kept trying to turn it away from me. Finally I saw why. On the screen I saw a beautiful blonde little girl with a moon shaped birth Mark on her left rib cage. The last thing I remember was whispering "this has to be a mistake". I woke up a while later to Chloe shaking me. Our mom and dad weren't home from work yet, are they even my mom and dad. I decided to power on the laptop. As the picture appeared on the screen Chloe says " it has to be somebody else. We were born the same day Lucy our birth certificates prove that." I pulled up the left side of my shirt knowing she has seen the moon shaped mark before. " Yeah because all people have an identical birthmark". We agreed not to ask mom and dad about it just yet. I saved the article to Chloe's laptop and a wave of nausea hit so hard I doubled over. What is going on with me. Maybe I just need to eat. I decided to head down to the kitchen and cook dinner since mom wasn't home yet. I decided on make steaks, baked potatoes and asparagus in a garlic butter sauce. as I finish setting the food up on the table I heard mom and dad pull in to the drive way. "She's getting older. We need to tell them at some point" mom tells dad. "Give them the next two days. Well do it after their birthday" dad responds. They came thru the door as I finished setting the table with u steady hands. I called Chloe down for dinner and for the first time in my life I felt I didn't belong here. Our mom asked if I was feeling any better. It must be obvious something is wrong because I always eat and tonight I'm just pushing my food around the plate. Chloe gives me a reassuring smile and I know the bond we have isn't unwavered. It was uneventful night's sleep. I woke and did my usual routine as I have for years getting ready in the morning. Today I chose a shirt with slits down my rib cage ignoring the birthmark. My clothes aren't what most girls in my grade would wear. Today my shirt is green and my pants are black and green plaid. As I slid my thigh high leather boots on I felt well rested and hoping everything yesterday was a nightmare. There was this weird sensation drawing me to go look out the window. I then rested my eyes upon a gorgeous white wolf with gray paws and very bright green eyes. I touched the window, and then walked away not believing what I just saw starting back at me. Tomorrow I turn sixteen and so does Chloe. We decided to have a bonfire out at the cabin. I laid my eyes on Chloe who looked stunning in a red dress. I absolutely love my sister. She's the only one there for me when I really need her. We walked to school talking about our plans for tomorrow. I avoided telling her what I saw out my window just half an hour ago. I stifled a giggle as I thought back to our talks of vampires and werewolves, and the thought just keeps getting more intense. I convinced myself that I have to look into those possibilities a bit more. After getting to school and putting our bags in our lockers we headed to our homeroom classes. Today we talked about our towns history and the first settlers of the town. This topic truly fascinated me. It turns out our cabin was built by one of the founding families. I felt eyes burning a hole thru the side of my head and knew it was Johnny but I didn't care. I was to intrigued in writing my notes about the founding family who first built on the land I've spent my whole life running around. I also jotted down In the margin of my notebook to research Johnny's name. "You shouldn't go looking for answers you're not prepared for Cadence". Whose Cadence I thought to myself. I was startled at what came next because I know I didn't ask that question aloud. "You are my dearest daughter." The rest of the school day went by in a blur. I remember lunch clearly. Chloe and I gave Payton, Chrissy, Tommy Lucas, Kali, and Jake their invites to the bonfire. I had taken out my sketch pad and started drawing. I didn't realize until it was finished that I sketched a world nuzzling a pup. I was torn between Johnny and that wolf I saw this morning. "Wow! Lucy that drawing is amazing.". That voice sent chills down my spine and I instantly knew it was Johnny. I didn't know if I should be scared or nervous. But all I felt was a sense of comfort. "Thank you" I replied not taking my eyes off the table. "Your body spray smells amazing. What is that orange and pineapple?" he asks. "I'm not wearing any body spray". And at that he walks away. After the weird encounter I practically ran from the cafeteria.
