The sky was dark and the moon was full by the time I stood to go up to bed. What a beautiful night it was. I stopped in front of the window and crossed my arms over my chest, just staring. Lost in the stars, the moon, the mist rolling in over the hills. I would never get sick of this view. “What a magical, mystical place…” I had began to turn away from the windows when it happened. Now that was absolutely a howl. There was no doubt about it in my mind. It seemed full of… longing. “What Autumn, now you speak wolf?” I asked myself. “Crazy, crazy bitch.” Padding up the stairs, I decided that I’d head back to the market tomorrow, to try and find Sadie. I would ask her about these howls, there must be a wildlife reserve around here somewhere. Must be privately owned though as it wasn’t listed on Google- Robyn text me to let me know she’d researched it. Glad to know it was doing her head in as much as mine. Climbing into bed, I was preparing to enjoy my first night alone in the valley. I reached into my bottom bedside drawer and took out the little black box, removing my favourite vibrator. A single woman had needs, and I wore that like a badge of honour. I untied my house coat and massaged my breasts, letting out little moans as I pinched my n*****s. Switching it on, I moved the vibrator down to that sweet bundle of nerves, swirling it around at my entrance, and back again. Getting lost in the gentle humming sound and focusing on that feeling building in the pit of my stomach, I almost missed the growl. But it didn’t stop me. Rubbing it between my folds, the growling continued and only added to the climax that ripped through me. Arching my back, I let out an almighty scream as the orgasm spread down my toes, making them curl. “Well, that was different…” My eyes grew heavy as I lay back on my bed, another howl being the last thing I heard before sleep overcame me. … I woke up in the morning in the same position I fell asleep in. Wrapped in my housecoat, vibrator in hand. I almost thought I’d dreamt it… The knock at the door startled me, I grabbed my phone to check the time. 8.32 AM, it must be the engineers for the security system and broadband. I tied the belt of my robe around my waist, threw the vibrator in the door and quickly made my way down the stairs to the door. “Autumn Bruan?” The first man enquired. “That’s me!” I tried to sound perky, that I hadn’t just woken up from an orgasm fueled sleep. “SWP Electrical, here to install a security system and WiFi router for you?” “Of course, come on in,” I stepped aside letting the 3 men in to the house. The last one in took his time, sauntering through the doorway. He was at least a foot taller than then other 2 men, and was pretty intimidating. Looking me up and down he was almost passed me and… did he just sniff me? When his back was turned, I discreetly sniffed my housecoat. Did I smell? “Uh would you like some coffee?” I asked the room. Clutching my housecoat around my bare chest, I wasn’t able to look any of them in the eyes. I got their orders and got to work making their drinks. Handing them over, I excused myself to go and get dressed. Not making the same mistake as yesterday, I went into the bathroom to get changed, behind the closed door. A brown yoga set of leggings and crop top was today’s choice, with a baggy checked shirt over top and my Crocs. I made a mental note to order a room divider screen, once the internet was sorted out. “I’m going to sit out back while you work, just shout me if you need anything. Are you OK for drinks?” The 2 smaller men confirmed and thanked me for the offer but the third… Mr Intimidation lived up to his name, just glaring at me and eventually grunting a “No, thanks”. Heading out to the patio with my iPad and a coffee, I continued to read my book in the peaceful Scottish scenery. Nothing made me feel prouder to be Scottish. I lifted my face to the sun to soak in its rays. It was warm for September, not that I was complaining. I looked off into the hills and noticed a smear on my sunglasses. Taking them off to clean them, I clicked… that wasn’t a smear: it’s something in the hills. I squinted hard to try and focus. I really couldn’t make it out. “It must be a stag!” I realized, the hills in Glencoe were full of them. I bet that’s what I saw at my window too! Letting out the breath I didn’t realise I was holding, I took a sip of coffee and picked up my iPad again. “Aw done, Miss Braun” the first engineer popped his head out of the patio doors. “It’s Bruan. And thank you. That was much quicker than I’d thought it would’ve been!” People were always mispronouncing my name, I can’t say I hadn’t thought of changing it multiple times. “Sorry, Miss Bruan. Brought my 2 best guys for the job, had ye sorted in no time. Ye want to come in and I’ll show ye how it works?” He showed me the remote, how to work the screen on the wall and downloaded the corresponding app on my iPad. It was nice have a man do something for me, for a change. Nice to be fussed over, even if it was his job. He said his goodbyes and the 2 smaller men left, leaving Mr Intimidation lurking behind. He lifted his head into the air and inhaled deeply. Then he simply grunted and shuffled out of the house, ducking under the doorframe to keep from banging his enormous head. Didn’t even close the door behind him. “Ooh he WAS a delight” I remarked to myself, closing the door and locking it. “I wouldn’t want to meet him on a dark night.” As soon as the words were out of my mouth, that familiar fuzzy feeling rushed to my head, almost knocking me off my feet. I steadied myself on the kitchen island, climbing onto a stool and holding myself up. An important message was en route. “Beware” was all I could make out before my phone began to ring.
