Chapter 2

Rebecca 'S POV I undressed and carefully entered the warm, steaming bath that Magdalena had prepared for me. My eyes immediately rolled to the back of my head, and I let out a satisfied sigh. After the rain, my skin was cold, and the warmth of the water felt like honey against it. I could smell lavender wafting into my nose. This felt heavenly, Goddess. I used a loofah and the soap that had been placed on my side to start washing away my unclean problems. A tap on the door caused me to look away. Who might be in the bathroom interrupting someone? I'm very grateful that there was enough soap to keep me covered. I sadly said, "Enter," with permission. Delicate fingers curled around the edge of the creaking door, revealing raven hair to the naked sight. I was relieved of my wrath when I noticed the quiet, kind person in my bathroom. "My apologies, Rebecca . I just wanted to make sure everything was okay," she said as she stood there grinning shyly. Susan. Sister. I grin softly and gesture for her to come closer, saying, "Rei, help me with my hair." With a charming smile, she squats behind the bathtub. She started washing and massaging my head after squeezing some shampoo. "Big sister, tell me what's on your mind," she says softly after a brief pause. All I can do is look forward to it. Why does it have to be up to each individual to correct them? She came to check on me, and I know that Thompson sent her. Everyone is aware that I don't always communicate about my problems. "Susan, you needn't worry, I can handle my own problems," I tell her. "You're so hard-headed, Rebecca ," she says with a little smile. "What is it with everyone saying that I'm being difficult?" I scoff incredulously. Yes, I am able to name quite a few items! Everything is always kept to yourself. You never desire assistance from others. You accept difficulties on your own. You're really the temp-," I raise an eyebrow and snap my head, telling her not to dare complete that phrase. She snaps her mouth shut so as not to start a fire. We sat in solitude once more. She then starts humming as she washes the soap out of my hair and starts to lather the conditioner in it. Simply put, talking to someone is helpful. Please don't feel as though you're going through this alone—it might be me or our brother. "Rebecca , so many people love you and only want to be here for you," she says to me. "Little Rei, when did you start being a motivational speaker?" I moan as I slide further down the tub. She lets out a charming laugh, and I couldn't resist joining in. Following our brief conversation as I finished my hair, Susan departed from the room. I considered what she said. I mean, am I really so grumpy? You do, indeed. My wolf responded. I said angrily, "Whatever, you're one to talk." Without saying anything, she snarled. Yeah, I had that thought. I chastised her in my head. covered my body with my silk, black robe, and went to my quarters. I took a seat on the plush sofa in front of my vanity, reached over, and started brushing my hair. With my thick, long hair, it was quite the pain to do this. A loud knock echoed across the room once more. I knew who was at my door without even needing to look.I could sense the strong energy coming from the walls. Alpha. He asked, "Rebecca , are you decent?" from across the room. I hurriedly reached into my drawers and pulled out a t-shirt, some underwear, and a pair of sweatpants. After getting dressed, I said, "Yes, Alpha." He came in, looking much like Susan, with raven hair. His towering exterior measures about as much as the doorway's aperture. He was really beautiful to see. My tail between my knees as I moaned in dread if I hadn't been descended from Alphas. He was even more magnificent than my father, yet nothing was ever quite like him. I turned to face him with respect and asked, "Is something the matter, sir?" He crossed his arms and said, "I prefer Father; you make me sound like a stranger when you call me that." I can understand where Davis gets this particular quality from him. Yes, I realised that calling Alpha or Sir his father makes him feel less than anxious. After all, the man raised me. Calling him father, though, makes me think of my own. "You're right, father, I'm sorry," I wheezed. Satisfied with that title, he drops his arms to his sides. He moves deeper into my living area and shuts the door behind him. Then he simply gives me this face, as in, "They ratted me out, didn't they? I'll force the tea out of you if you don't tell me to look." "Those betrayers," I growled, retreating onto my bed as I considered Davis, Thompson , and Susan. Those tiny devils would send in more, of course, but the Alpha? They were more aware than anything else of the fact that I disliked appearing weak in his presence. He was powerful, well-liked, and extremely self-assured. It was such attributes that I aspired to. I detested feeling pointless in circumstances like these. I was by his side constantly from such a young age, always trying to make an impression on him. A laugh buried deep in his chest as he found my immature actions funny. I'm pleased he finds this humorous since I let out a loud groan into my pillow. As he settles in on my bed's edge, I can feel the mattress dip. "So what is it? What's going through your insane mind, Rebecca ?" I sigh and pull myself up into a sitting position, keeping my eyes from meeting his. "Rebecca ," he said in a harsher voice. Another indication of disdain is when an Alpha is speaking to you directly and you are not meeting his eyes. With reluctance, I looked up at him. His eyes betrayed a great deal of care for me and convinced me that he should know what was bothering me. But it's really challenging. I detested discussing my emotions. It was simply strange. His smile is malicious as he threatens, "Do I have to get Lenora on you?" I am frightened and say, "You wouldn't dare!" Widening even further is that cunning smile as it says, "Oh, but I would, little one." I avert my gaze from him. He even tried to use his sister against me, how dare he. There was no denying the power of that woman. I had never seen a woman-wolf quite like hers; she was a very revered one. If appearances could kill, she would be lethal since she was fierce and in charge. His hands move so quickly that his smartphone is visible. My pupils expanded. He's got his finger close to the speed dial. My breathing nearly stopped. We've been surpassed. In defeat, I raise my hands and say, "Okay! I assure you! Deity!" Smugly grinning, he said, "Yeah, that's what I thought." But he still has the phone in his hand. I said, "Father, you can now put the phone away." He looks at the phone, then back at me, then back at the phone, and so on. I clenched my teeth, but then I recalled something important that makes him unstoppable. I smile knowingly and he raises an incomprehensible eyebrow. I stop being terrified by his warning and start to fidget with my nails. "Put the phone away, or shall I get Lena on you?" I retaliate by threatening him. My statement surprises him, and he lets go of the phone, saying, "You're horrible!" I let out a loud chuckle that echoed through my room, "It's not fun when the tables are turned against you!" Those crafty betrayers! "Don't think you're off the hook either, just you wait for you, despicable creatures," I said loudly. I get gratification from hearing the beautiful sound of feet skittering off into the distance. Sure, take off. I adore playing cat and mouse. More like to prey on wolves. I grinned broadly and toothily, agreeing with my wolf. "My dear, I don't think they're the cunning ones in this situation," the Alpha says with a wry, amused expression. I laugh, "They dug their own graves the moment they tattled to our sweet old daddy." He gives me an amazed look and asks, "Old?" I called him Alpha instead of father, but other than that, he hated the epithet "old." I massage his sagging shoulders and remark, "Kidding," He appeared completely defeated. Then all of a sudden, he throws his powerful, muscular arms around me and gives me a tender embrace. I was definitely caught off guard by how intense his feelings were. "Rebecca , I know losing your parents was the hardest thing you've ever had to experience in your entire life, but you are not alone in that department," his words were filled with sorrow. I understood exactly who he was talking about. That was the only way I could hug him more tightly as we shared our grief. Along with my entire pack, he lost his sibling that same night, but it's still unclear what or who destroyed it. I am aware that he is continuing his investigation and won't give up until he finds the solutions we are both seeking. We will eventually discover the cause of my pack's demise, and when I do, I will tear them to pieces.
