“Get me everything you can on Jenice Johnson, I should at least see the face of the woman I will be getting married to” Jefferson said, turning around to face his secretary who stood by the door of the office.
“Alright sir I’ll get to it now” Lee replied.
Lee was Jefferson’s secretary and personal assistant who was assigned by Jefferson’s father to keep an eye on him.
Jefferson was so fond of Lee and it was easy for him to switch sides, making sure to always tell him of his father’s plans and help him escape trouble.
“Are you sure there’s no work assigned to me for tomorrow? I mean I could take anything right now, keep my desk full” Jefferson asked, falling to his chair in frustration, he hated the whole idea of a blind date and the last thing he wanted to do was smile in front of a stranger, let alone marry her.
“No sir, I’m afraid there’s none, your mother made sure to clear up your schedule for tomorrow evening and I don’t think she is willing to take any excuses from you.” Lee replied, smiling lightly at Jefferson.
“Please get me what I asked for by evening, I need to know who she is before I meet her.” Jefferson said again, before dismissing him.
“Sure boss” Lee replied, Boeing a little before leaving the office.
The day ran by slowly and Jefferson was anxious about the date. Judging from what he saw in the information that Lee brought, he was convinced that she was not in any way his type, and marrying her would be a big mistake.
It was too late for him to refuse now and his parents were more sensitive than ever, seeing as they were really weighing his succession, the company, to this marriage. He was desperate to do something and it made him feel uneasy.
“Hmm I am already well known for being very obnoxious and full of myself, I could just act like a complete preek and have her walk out on her own, maybe with a little drama by spilling drink on me. I mean I already have a reputation, don't I?” Jefferson said, smiling at himself in mischief.
If he couldn’t run from a marriage planned by both families already, he could at least make the girl hate and refuse him for herself.
”It’s time to go home boss, your mother has called to invite you over for dinner” Lee said as he opened the door and entered the office.
“Tell them that I’m a little tired today and need to rest, plus I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, I would need to sleep in early.” Jefferson said, making up any excuse that came to his head
But the date is at night boss” Lee said, genuinely confused
You think I don’t know that?” Jefferson said again, raising his voice a little more.
“I do not wanna have dinner with them, but you know I can’t say that now can I?” He asked, bringing Lee to his senses.
“Alright boss, I’ll let them know you had dinner already and would be going straight home from here” Lee said, before turning to leave.
“Well thank you Lee” Jefferson said, throwing his hands in the air in frustration.
The next day came in no time and neither of them were able to get a good night's sleep.
Selina spent the night plotting out the best way to scare away Jenice’s date while Jefferson
practiced his cockiness.
Selina hopped out of bed and rushed downstairs for a cup of coffee. She still lived with her parents while she worked as it was more convenient for her.
She saw no need to move out or spend extra money on getting a place as she already had a room to herself and a home filled with food. She wasn’t going to go through that stress and waste a whole lot of money for it.
Despite Jenice’s advice to move into a house of her own, Selina has refused to even think about it.
She picked up her phone and dialed her friend’s number immediately, hoping to talk more about what they had planned for the day
“Hello world star actress” jenise said, picking up the phone almost immediately
“Hello my nemesis” Selina replied smiling
“I hope you are ready for today?” Jenice asked, munching on something so loud, Selina could hear it on the phone.
