Crow and Mary"s wedding was a grand affair held at the ranch. Charles spared no expense. Guests of the bride and groom came from all over. The mix of people was astonishing. Friends of the bride"s family included Knob Hill residents and sea captains, while the groom"s guests included lawmen and several Indians. It was loud! It was fun! It was a celebration! The evening before the wedding, Charles asked Crow to take a ride with him. The two men mounted up and rode out the front gate toward the setting sun and the Pacific Ocean. Gulls called to each other as they swooped and played in the evening sky. The riders could smell and hear the ocean long before they arrived.
