Honeywell and Percy Fine were following Ling. She looked back only once to make sure they were there. At the gate of Prentice Carr"s house, she hesitated for a moment. She had arranged to see her son, telling Carr she had important information. Honeywell and Percy were there to keep Crow"s promise to rescue the boy, and Honeywell had another promise to keep to his father.
No one had heard from The Black Crow. It was more than two weeks since she"d set sail. It appeared The Black Crow and her crew had been lost. Fine told them to go ahead with the rescue. There was enough evidence to arrest and convict Carr for piracy. Honeywell"s friend from the Hong Kong police, after some consternation, agreed to wait for a signal that the boy was safe and allow Honeywell some time with Carr.
