He sat beside me when he was done. He didn’t complain about what I was watching. When I got bored, I tried talking to him.
“Ah, Draven. Can I borrow your phone? I just want to call Nathan.”
“Who’s Nathan?”
We kept talking, and I noticed he was scowling like someone stole his wife.
“Ah, the grandson of my boss. He’s probably worried about me.”
“Why would he be? Is he your boyfriend?”
“No.”
“Then don’t call him,” he said firmly, and I went quiet. So many questions. I just asked if I could borrow a phone.
I went into one of his guest rooms. He stayed on the couch.
I was about to sleep when someone knocked. I opened it.
“Why are you here?” he asked, angry.
“To sleep. Why?”
“You’re not sleeping with me?”
“Why would I sleep with you?” I asked immediately. Because, why would I?
“Because I said so.”
“That’s it? Don't only married couples share a bed?”
He just stared at me, then picked me up and carried me to his room. I struggled, but he was too strong.
“We’ve shared a bed before, so does that make us married?” I don’t know if he was joking. He looked serious.
“But we’re not even married.”
“Do you want to be married? I’ll marry you tomorrow.”
“Ehhh?”
“Kidding.” He chuckled.
I don’t even know this guy anymore.
I shut up because he was acting way too familiar, joking like we’ve known each other forever.
I was half-asleep when I felt a hand on my stomach. I looked at him—he was still asleep. I checked the time. Almost 4 AM. I carefully slipped out of bed.
“Where are you going? Leaving me again?”
I almost fell down the stairs when he spoke behind me. Luckily, he caught me.
“Ah, just getting water,” I lied.
“Really?” I just nodded.
“There’s water in the fridge in my room.”
“Ahh, I didn’t see it.”
What now? Nathan. I’ll try to borrow his phone so I can call Nathan. I know he’s worried, and Manang too.
“Uhm, Draven.” I called him while he just stared at me, watching everything I did.
“Can I borrow your phone? I just want to call Nathan and Manang. They’re probably worried about me.”
“Nathan again?”
“Why don’t you like him?”
“I’m jealous,” he said immediately, and I froze.
“Why would you be?”
He stepped closer and held my jaw.
“You’re mine.” Then he kissed me. His kisses shocked me.
I pulled away fast.
His gaze dropped to my lips. I couldn’t help but bite mine. “Stop biting your lips.” But I couldn’t help it. I kept doing it. His thumb suddenly caressed my lips—gentle, but it sent a shiver through me. I closed my eyes.
“I might kiss you,” he murmured. I could smell his minty breath, realizing how close he was. “Would you let me?” His voice was low, sexy.
The idea of kissing him made me blush.
Slowly, I felt his lips on mine. I felt his lips press against mine. They pressed a little harder, like he was asking permission to deepen it.
I parted my lips, giving Draven complete access.
“First time kissing a man?” he asked.
I was embarrassed instantly and tried to pull away, but he tugged me back.
“Hmm,” I moaned when I felt him gently bite my lip. My hands gripped the hard muscle of his arms while his hands caressed my legs, up to my waist. Every touch made my body heat up, but I didn’t have the will to stop him—even when he freely massaged my chest.
Our bodies were heating up when a knock suddenly interrupted us.
“Ohh, f*ck!” he cursed, expensive and angry.
“Boss, feed Maxine already. Her stomach’s probably rioting.”
Shy eats her— I shot up and ran to the bathroom.
Jusko, Maxine, what did you do? I splashed water on my face.
She walked out of the room, refusing to look at Draven. She was shy. So, so shy.
“Eat, Maxine,” Diego called out.
She noticed Draven immediately. He was not in the mood. Still irritated about what happened earlier.
They ate in silence, until she broke it.
“Uhm, Diego… can I borrow your phone?”
“Why would you?” Draven cut in, sharp.
“I’m going to call Nathan. You won’t let me borrow yours.”
She was shocked when he instantly slid his phone across the table. She didn’t waste a second and dialed Nathan.
“Hello?”
“Hello, who’s this?” Nathan replied, then realized. “Ate Maxine?”
“Where are you?”
“How are you?”
“What happened to you?”
The questions came rapid-fire.
“Nathan, calm down, will you? It’s a long story…”
“Then tell me.”
“I was kidnapped.”
“What? Where are you now? How much is the ransom?”
“Nathan, calm down, didn’t I tell you?”
“I don’t know who they were, but I’m safe now, okay? Someone saved me.”
“Really? Someone?” Draven muttered under his breath.
“Jealous already, Boss?” Diego was fantastic at teasing him.
“Why are you here?” Draven snapped at Diego.
Diego didn’t answer, so she turned her attention back to Nathan.
“When are you coming home, Ate? I miss you.” His voice softened, almost pleading.
“She’s not going home,” Draven said flatly, making her roll her eyes.
“Can you shut up, Draven?” She stood and walked away for privacy.
“Who’s that Draven? Is he the one who saved you?” Nathan asked.
“Yes, Nathan. I don’t know… but he won’t let me go home. I was going to sneak out earlier, but he caught me.”
She stopped talking when she remembered what happened earlier. Her cheeks burned.
“Why won’t he let you? Who is he?”
“He was the one who saved me back then, remember? The one I told you about at the bar.”
“Are you safe with him? Are you comfortable there? I’ll tell Lola to investigate the kidnapping.”
“I want to know who did it too, but I’ll probably figure it out through his connections. Don’t tell your Lola or Manang yet, okay? They’ll just worry.”
“But Ate—” he protested.
“No, Nathan. I want to find out myself. I’m sure this is connected to something bigger.”
She ended the call and went back to the dining table. Diego was gone. She couldn’t help the nervous knot in her stomach when she saw the way Draven was looking at her—like an angry tiger ready to pounce.
“Uhmm… T-thank you. Are you… okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Are you mad?”
He didn’t reply. She was scared. She couldn’t help but bite her lip.
He stood up suddenly and closed the distance between them.
“I told you to stop biting your lips.”
Then he kissed her. Passionately. Deeply. She didn’t really know how to do this. She tried to push him away, but he caught her neck, tilting her head. His tongue was about to slip in when she bit it—lightly, out of panic.
“Ughh.”
She didn’t know how to react when Draven moaned. And God, it was like music to her ears.
Heat pooled low in her stomach at the sound. When she tried to pull away, Draven grabbed her, and she stumbled, bumping right into his chest. His arms locked around her like a cage.
“Running again, Maxine?” His voice was low, rough against her ear. “You’re not going anywhere
