Chapter 4 I jogged back to my car with just a few moments to spare. Margorie had told me about this rest stop with showers and vending machines yesterday afternoon and I took the hint that I needed to get cleaned up. After a quick stop at an ATM to pull the last twenty dollars out of my declining bank account, I’d managed to find a laundromat, clean everything in my car, and take a cold, but quick shower. I’d slept in the parking lot at the rest stop and now I had ten minutes to get to the diner to meet Seth. My car slid on the icy roads and I cursed the stupid thing and its stupid tires for the millionth time. Hopefully Seth would offer to drive—for safety reasons and for gas saving reasons.
