“Where was he?” I shouted into the phone at Sutton. She’d tracked down Alex’s truck and was trying to help even though I wanted to scream at everything.
“At a gas station, just outside of Fox River. How did you know to check there?” she asked.
“A hunch,” I growled. Then, remembering my manners, I added, “Thanks, Sutton. I appreciate it.”
“Should I tell Major?”
“No!” Reining in my anger, I amended with, “I already let Scarlett know.” It was a lie, but Sutton shouldn’t be able to tell.
“Sure, Seth.”
She knew.
“Please call if you need me. I’ve made a few contacts in that area.” Sutton hung up the phone before I did, which was a good thing because I’d just pulled my truck into the tiny gas station Sutton said she’d been able to track Alex’s phone to. He hadn’t gone any furth
