Chapter 17: The College Transition & The Campus Roar

586 Words
Fast forward six months. The transition to university was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where they could be "Aria the Pre-Law Student" and "Julian the Computer Science Major." But the internet had other plans. The "Dashboard Tapes" had hit ten million views over the summer, and the "Glitch Hunters" were now a national obsession. Their first day at the prestigious State University was a gauntlet of excitement. The Morning Routine: Aria’s first class was Constitutional Law 101 in a massive, three-hundred-seat lecture hall. Ten minutes before the lecture started, the heavy oak doors swung open. Julian walked in, wearing his signature black hoodie but with a sleek new messenger bag. He was holding Aria’s hand, guiding her through the crowd of students. The moment they were spotted, a low hum of whispering turned into a deafening roar. "IT’S THEM!" someone screamed. "GLITCH HUNTERS IN THE HOUSE!" Students stood up, clapping and whistling. The Professor, a stern woman in her sixties, looked up from her notes in bewilderment as her classroom turned into a pep rally. Julian didn't flinch. He walked Aria all the way to her seat in the front row, leaned down, and gave her a lingering, sweet kiss in front of three hundred stunned law students. "Study hard, Madam President," he whispered loudly enough for the first three rows to hear. The roar intensified. Julian winked at the crowd, gave a mock salute, and strolled out of the hall like he owned the building. Aria sat down, her face glowing with a mixture of embarrassment and pure, unadulterated joy. The Lunch Break Swap: Three hours later, it was Aria’s turn. She navigated the "Tech Quad"—a maze of glass-walled labs and humming servers—to find Julian’s Advanced Robotics seminar. She stood outside the glass door, checking her watch. The moment the clock struck 12:00, she pushed the door open. The room was full of "tech bros" and coding geniuses, all hunched over soldering irons and laptops. "Excuse me," Aria said, her voice clear and authoritative. "I’m looking for a hacker who owes me a lunch date." The room went dead silent. Then, a boy in the back row dropped his soldering iron with a loud clatter. "No way," he gasped. "The Legend herself." Julian stood up from his workstation, a massive grin breaking across his face. As he walked toward her, his classmates started banging on their desks in a rhythmic beat, chanting "GLITCH! GLITCH! GLITCH!" Aria laughed, grabbing Julian’s hand and pulling him toward the door. "Come on, Hacker Boy. Your fans are getting rowdy." They walked across the campus green, hand-in-hand, followed by a trail of students taking photos and videos for their stories. But amidst the chaos of the viral fame, they only had eyes for each other. "So," Julian said as they sat under a massive oak tree with their sandwiches. "How was Law 101? Did you negotiate any international treaties?" "No," Aria smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder. "But I think I convinced the girl sitting next to me that 'Chaos' isn't a bad thing. She saw us this morning, and she said it was the first time she’d seen a 'Power Couple' that actually looked happy instead of just... managed." Julian took a bite of his sandwich, looking out at the sprawling campus. "We’re going to be okay here, aren't we?" Aria squeezed his hand. "Better than okay, Julian. We’re the Glitch Hunters. We don't follow the rules; we rewrite them."
