Chapter 1: Lucky Encounter

Xeno's POV "Oh shoot, I'm gonna be late! I can't be late again. They're gonna fire me. Ugh. This is stupid. I'm stupid. Hurry up!" I thought to myself as I got dressed for work. I worked as a waiter. Yeah, the job itself wasn't fancy but the place? Hell yes. Decked out in all its fancy stuff, even the uniforms! Everyone had their own one. Since I was a waiter, I wore a black jacket thing with green velvet inside it. A pocket watch had to be worn at all times, too. It had holes in the back for the wings. I was late because I forgot to wake up earlier and brush my wings. The feathers got tangled the night before because I got into a small scuffle with a guy. My wings had this rare sort of thing they did. My feathers would fall out and turn to stardust when hitting the ground when I flapped my wings. I was nothing dangerous, of course. They were also slightly larger than average wings. It was rare to have these conditions and even rarer to have both."Oh god, now I'm talking to myself. Sheesh. I'm going crazy. Maybe I do need therapy." I groaned at the thought of meeting more people. Dorain's POV I woke up at noon to my friend standing over me holding a potted plant. "Dude... what?" I asked, annoyed. "Put it down." James, the one holding the plant, spoke up. "We thought you died or something. You didn't answer calls or nothing. At least set an alarm." "Am alarm? What for?" I got up confused and brushed my hair and teeth. "You forgot? Of course you did. We agreed to go to that really fancy restaurant... cafe... thing when you got high the other day, man." James leaned in the doorway. He looked exhausted. I was, too. "Oh... I remember now." I groaned. "Do we have to go there? Is if like... set in stone now or whatever?" "Well, yeah. Of course it is." James smirked. He knew I hated fancy stuff. Even though I was a prince, fancy never applied to me. I wanted to be normal. I wanted to have not everything. I wanted to have minimal amounts of stuff. I didn't want to be treated like a royal, I wanted to be treated equally. "Fine, whatever." I said, picking out some good clothes. "I'll make reser-" "Nope, already done." James stood up, walking out the door and closing it. "Huh? Whatever." I rolled my eyes. This day was only gonna get better or much worse. I didn't care. Either direction is fine as long as something decently funny or exciting happens. Third Person POV Dorian, James, and a few other friends got out of the car. There were people rushing to the front door. Dorian ignored it. He wanted the say to be over as soon as possible so he could go home. A waitress came up to him. "Good afternoon, Prince Dorian. Your table has been reserved and is ready." Dorian could see the lady blushing. She was a demon. He groaned and rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure. Can you show us to the table... please?" Dorian said, annoyed as James nudged him. "Oh yes. Right this way." She took them inside and sat them at a table near a window. She smiled, bowed, and walked away. Dorian stared out the window. He started to hate this already, and it's barely been five minutes. Xeno's POV I got called over by my boss. "Table 12. Window." He pointed to some fancy looking people. "Sir... with all due respect...that's too many for me to handle. There is like... six different people there." I got anxious all of a sudden. Why now of all times? "So? It's your job. Do it." I groaned inwardly at this. Approaching the table with caution, I noticed a demon. "Oh great..." This was gonna go bad. There have been tensions between angels and demons. Both kingdoms didn't like each other. Mostly the royalty, but that reflected on us as citizens because we followed their example. I just hoped I wouldn't be there too long. I got to the table, my wings allowing me to hover close enough to the table. "What would you like, Misters...?" My voice was shaky. "Frick... why now?" I thought. The guy by the window noticed. He perked up. "Your finest champagne." I recognised him. Prince Dorian. "Ah yes, right away, Mr. Dorian." Everyone else said their orders. Dorian was staring at me. I don't know what look it was, but it was somewhere between fascination and want. I brushed it off. Third Person POV Xeno got the drinks and food and whatever else and was about to walk away when Dorian asked, "What's your name?" Xeno stopped dead in his tracks, his wings drooping lightly. "Xeno, Sir." Dorian looked him up and down. He got up from his seat and came over to Xeno. He whispered in his ear, "That's a very nice name you know. Here." He slipped his number into Xeno's pocket. "Call me when you feel like it." Dorian took Xeno's hand gently into his and kissed it. Xeno's, the shy angel he was, got flustered. That was demon, he thought. Every person stared at this scene, some wishing to be in this position, some even looking disgusted at the demon. "Bye~! Call me." Dorian winked at Xeno when leaving an hour later. Xeno was so confused. He was enjoying this but felt conflicted. He clenched the piece of paper in his hand, returning to his work.
