Messiah Jordy I pushed open the front door of Slauson's at exactly 7:30am. Once again, Slauson - or should I call him Mr Slauson now that he was my boss? - was still the only man present in the shop. He was cleaning the tables and arranging the chairs and small saucers accordingly. He always worked very hard, at least from the two times I had met him. He owned the place, but he was always the first to come in and the last to leave. It was a very admirable trait, one that was to be copied by his employees.
