MAURICE'S POV I buried my head, intently focused on the papers in my hand. My back was aching from sitting too much, but I couldn't get a break yet. Not until all of this was sorted out. I heard the door creak open. I didn't raise my head. I wasn't expecting anyone else other than Lucy. The smell of fresh steaming coffee wafted into my nostrils. At that moment, a cup slid across the table to my end. “Thank you.” I said with deep gratitude. It was just what I needed. Without raising my head, I grabbed the cup and sipped from it.
