A Tale of a Mannequin

Chapter 4

"But they're just like people,” Melania said with gladness in her eyes.

"What are you talking about?" Valeria nodded.

"Well mom, she wants her to have a name, so give her a name, easy!” Iris chimed in.

“I don’t think so, that’s weird!” Valeria just shook her head.

After a while.

“Take a look, is it nice isn’t it?” Valeria said when they finished dressing up the mannequin.

"Nice!" Rose exclaimed.

They are all happy and feel excited with their new mannequin.

After a while, Iris and Melania get inside the house and they went to their room.

While changing clothes, Melania suddenly said something that Iris was surprised.

"You know Iris, I want to be a mannequin,”  Melania said like dreaming and humbled herself through the window and looked into the sky.

"What are you talking about Melania?"

"Why? Is that bad?" Melania said and gazed to Iris.

"Of course, you scaring me, mannequins are not human, so why do you want to be like them huh?" she nodded.

"Because they are beautiful, looks perfect!" she stated.

"Well, you know of course mannequins are looks perfect because its made by man, they carve so well to make it perfect!” She laughed.

"You know Iris I've been to the world of mannequins." Melania said seriously and she lays into her bed.

"Melania, what again are you talking about?"

"That’s true!"

"And how can you say that's true?"

"I always dreamed that I was there, the mannequins have lives!”

"Ah, so it's just a dream?”

"But it’s like real, I'm always talking to their Queen, it's wonderful!”

"Until now you still dreamed it?"

"Yes Iris until now!”

"Melania you getting me scared!”

"Let's name her!”

"Who?  The mannequin bought by mother?"

"Yes"

"No!”

"Gricielda, that's the name of the Queen, I will name after her." Melania said happily and hugged her pillow. She more wanted to be as beautiful as a mannequin so she can be something to Brando. She felt that she will see him again no matter how.

"Well, if that what you want, okay then, from now on her name is Gricielda.”  Iris said and just shook her head.

In her sleep, Melania glanced at the poster, but she felt sad, thinking that even if she met Brando he wouldn't be in love at her because of her appearance. "I wish the queen is real enough to make me beautiful like a mannequin!" She sighed. In her dream, she saw Brando again. She was in a vast garden at Bolanaire kingdom looking for him.. "Where are you? I already know your name!” She said as she rolled her eyes around the atnosphere. She was excited to see him, but she couldn't see him. Feeling sad, suddenly her tears flowed, she sat down on one side and felt alone. After a moment someone have spoken, "Why are you crying?" Voice said.  As Melania heard it, she turned her head and saw Brando standing in the distance and smiling at her. There were tears in her eyes as she sees him. “Brando!” She uttered with gladness in her face, and as they drew closer suddenly they were startled when they heard the queen's voice. "You don't deserve each other!" the queen's said furiously. Brando open his arms and asking her to come with him. But Melania couldn't react as if she was being restrained, Melania tried to reach out with her hands and eager to be near to Brando. “Melania come with me!” Brando chanted with his open arms and smiled at her dearly. But suddenly, she woke up by the tone of the alarm clock that Iris set up last night. “Good morning, start a new day!” Iris sighed as she straightening up from sleep. She notices Melania that she was moaned in tears. Iris just shrugged her shoulders and got up from bed.

One day…

Melania was walking home from school. And as she walked, she was surprised when she saw Brando with his girlfriend Misty, they were waiting for a bus. Melania hides behind the pole of the street light and peered them. She heard their conversations. "Join another contest," Misty said.  “I always dreamed of going to a foreign country, that my life would change, but I always lose! I give up!” Brando said desperately.

"You need to find a better contest, you always been deceived,”　

“For now I will stop all this, I need to find a job so I can continue my studies,”  

Brando said earnestly. After a while the bus arrived.

“See you then Brando,” Misty bids goodbye and then she alone rode in the bus.

When the bus went off, Melania was suddenly felt cramps on her legs.

She can’t make a step with her foot, she bends down and grabs her knees and she has a difficulty to move, and there Brando saw her. “Hey, are you okay miss?” he chanted.

“My legs cramps!” Melania called out and lift her head up, and Brando’s handsome face flare up right before her eyes.

She felt swooned and nervous at the same time, her heart skip the beat.

She glanced at him and she can’t take her eyes off of him. Brando’s eyes was staring at her as if she was going to melt like an ice cream. He reach his hand on her, Melania felt like she was still dreaming, she look at his hand who was willing to help her.

She suddenly smiled and she reached her hand on him, and when their hands grasped,

He lift her up to get up properly, her body was fat so even Brando had a hard time to help her up. “Thank you,” Melania smiled slightly when her cramps was gone.

Brando just smiled at her with sparks in his eyes, they keep staring each other eyes. Melania felt so in love as he staring at him that close, but suddenly he went away.

Melania gaze at him until he was gone on her sight. 

“Oh Brando,” she mumbled. She couldn’t able to get acquainted with him, she thought that Brando would never like her with her appearance like that, compare to her beautiful girlfriend. Melania walks home and still thinking about her brief encounter with Brando.
