Chapter 2

Jaylee POV

The next morning I decided to do some research about the missing girl. I grabbed my laptop and googled her name. After two hours I felt like I didn't make any progress at all. There was only one article that was some kind of help, but it only contained basic stuff.

Ivy Clark still missing

" Ivy Clark has been missing for three months now. Ivy was last seen shopping with her friend at the Hawthorn mall. At 5 o'clock in the afternoon the girls went their seperate ways. However Ivy never made it home.

According to family and friends of Ivy, there isn't a single person who would harm Ivy. Friends describe Ivy as a sweet girl who you just can't dislike. The police are still investigation, but at the moment there aren't any helpfull leads.

If you have any information or seen Ivy, please contact the police immediately."

I sighed and closed my laptop. Seems like I have to wait for my talk with Chris to get more usefull information.

My head started spinning from all my thoughts and questions, so I decided to go for a walk. As I was walking, I found myself once again drawn to the billboard. Ivy indeed does look like a sweet girl. I really couldn't imagine anyone wanting to harm her. My phone alerted me to a new message. Taking a look at my phone I saw a new message from Chris, so I hurried home. 

At home I sat down on the couch and opened the message.

Chris: Hey, are you there?

Me: Yeah, I'm here.

Chris: Good. So do you have time now? To talk about Ivy?

Me:   Yes, tell me everything.

Chris: All right.. So Ivy is my girlfriend, one day she went shopping with Ruby and just never came home. We haven't heard anything from her in 3 months, but as I already told you I received a text yesterday containing only your number.  When I called the phone got answered, but nobody said anything. 

Me: Maybe something happened, and she needed some time for herself?

Chris: I don't think so. She would have told one of us if that was the case.

Me: Are you sure about that? Maybe something happened and she couldn't or didn't want to talk about it.

Chris: No, I'm sure she had at least notified Dahlia. Ivy and Dahlia are really close. They tell each other everything. 

Me: All right. And what about Ivy's behavior? Did she act any different as normal?

Chris: No, I didn't notice anything strange about her behavior. But I have to go now. I'm supposed to pick up my little brother

Me: All right, talk to you later.

Chris: Bye.

After my talk with Chris, I felt like he wasn't completely honest with me. Like he didn't tell me everything. He was quick to shut down the conversation after talking about Ivy's behavior. 

I was thinking about my conversation with Chris, when a new chat request popped up.

CHAT REQUEST FROM JILLIAN

Jillian? I tried to recall who she was. Oh that girl who didn't seem to invested in Ivy's disappearance. I accepted the request.

Jillian: Hey :)

Me: Hey :)

Jillian: I was worried you were thinking bad of me, because I left the conversation. I had to think everything over you know?

But now we do have some time to get to know each other.

Me: What changed your mind?

Jillian: Hmmm, curiosity mainly. You're part of the group now and I would like to get to know you. But I'm at work, so if Zack is coming I have to drop my phone .

Me: Wait.. The same Zack as before?

Jillian: Yeah, I work for him at the garage. I do the stuff he can't do, like answering the phone, making appointments and paying the bills. :P 

So, now it's your turn. 

Me: I just finished my residency at the local children's hospital. So I'm a doctor there now. 

Jillian: Wow, that seems very difficult and stressful to me. 

Me: Well, it can be. But I really like working there.

So, it's your turn again :P.

Jillian: Well, I really like painting and traveling. 

What about you? Are you creative?

Me: Yeah, I really love to draw. I think painting is too messy though.

And I enjoy traveling too. 

Jillian: Haha, yeah. It can be messy. Though I think that's part of the fun :P. 

And maybe you can travel here to visit me :)

Me: Haha, yeah maybe. 

Jillian: Ow, Zack needs me. I have to go.

Me: All right, see you :).

I enjoyed talking to Jillian. She seemed like a nice girl. As I was putting my phone down, the screen lighted up alerting me to a new message. Seriously? Another one? Wondering who it could be, I unlocked my phone. 

SPOOK MODE; CHRIS & RUBY

Spook mode? What does that even mean? Opening the conversation, I saw something I didn't expect at all.

Chris: Hey, you there?

Ruby: Yeah, I'm here. I don't have a lot of time though. 

How are you holding up?

Chris: I'm doing all right, what about you?

Ruby: I'm okay.

Chris: So, what do you think about Jaylee?

Ruby: I'm not sure, I haven't really talked to her yet.

Do you think she can be trusted?

Chris: I don't know. 

But if she has anything to do with Ivy's disappearance, she  will at one point make a mistake.

So we just have to pay close attention to her words for now. 

Ruby: All right, sounds good.

I have to go now though. 

See you later. 

Chris:  See you later.

I just sat on my couch staring at my phone in disbelief. So I can read along in their conversations now? How did that happen? Just as that thought passed, a new conversation opened.
