/DEXTER'S POV/
Running around has been quite stressful and the fun from it is already wearing away, I have escapes death once already and from then on I have totally gone off the grid, so off the grid that I also forgot where I was, now I’m totally broke and all the cash I had on me have been used to treat and nature wounds from the accident.
"After the accident" I thought
.........
Immediately big jones disconnected the call, I looked through the window onto the street and I was luckily able to identify one of the cars.
"Shit... " I cursed as I rushed out of the room, I didn't have much time to think or plan what to do, immediately I got to the lobby, using the elevator was out of the questions. Unfortunately my room was at the beginning of the lobby and I will need to go to the end to access the utility stairs and I could see the elevator indicator was reading about five floors below and I have only a few seconds before it reaches the floor I am.
Just about 3 steps left for me to drop into the stairwell, I took a quick turn to have a peek on the elevator and I could see it beginning to give way to open up, I hasten up to make the turn and I was already in the stairwell.
'Did they see me, oh f**k s**t, I hope they didn't...' I was just about getting adapted to the running or rather jumping of stairs and breathing in marathon.
"DEXTER!!!" A voice called out, obviously it was one of those guys coming for me.
I didn't stop, rather it made me hasten up my steps and increased the strains of my leaps, after covering about two floors I cornered back into the building.
'They should be expecting me at the ground, probably having guys to cut me off already' I quickly had the thought and decided to get off the stairs.
Unknown to me, Big Jones' men have flooded the building, I came out the lobby and try to act and walk as normal as possible. But they were still able to lay eyes on me as a voice came shouting.
"DEXTER...!!!" Another guy called out and before I could figure out where he was at to decide on my escape route, I have already been snuck up on, just when I had identified his location and ready to move, the other guy who snuck up on me had his palm covering my mouth and nose. With his other arm all over my face in an unexplainable manner strangling me.
I was sure he wasn't here to kill me, all he wanted was to chock me and put me out, bundling me back to Big Jones. So I had to fight back. I quickly reached out I to my pocket and drew out a pocket knife I had been carrying since I know I now needed protection.
A quick stab on the right lap weakened him i felt ease around my neck and head, I gave him a good elbow punch on the face and entered into the next available room before the other guy gets any closer.
Of course I can't stay in there for long, noticing the room had windows facing the alley, it was my chance of getting away, I thought to myself. I was just about three floors up and down the alley was a dumpster that was half way full directly under the window I was staring from, I only needed to reduce the distance and land in the dumpster which I hope should be giving me a soft landing.
I removed the curtain which luckily for me the curtain was not just long but also two, I removed the whole curtain rack from the hook and removed one of the curtain from the rack and I placed it across the window, I had no time to think my plans through, all my actions were based on hopes that it holds still until I get close enough to let go of the curtain and land in the dumpster and also hope that the dumpster will be having more soft trash in it rather than hard materials that will actually hurt me.
In a split of seconds, I already have my escape route ready and I took a leap of fate, just after crossing one floor, and was almost crossing the floor just above the ground floor the curtain held still meaning I have exhausted the curtains length and in a second or two, it gave way succumbing to my weight pulling it down, of course the curtain rails bent and I went straight into the dumpster but due to the fact that I had no time to aim my fall, I feel with my left shoulder hitting the edge of the dumpster and getting a spraining.
I was still trying to manage the pain when I heard a bullet popping into the dumpster, I looked up to the window and there was a shooter using a silenced gun. I had no time to cater for my pain on my left shoulder and jumped out and ran straight for the main street where I have a rented car parked.
Bullets were still flying at me as I ran to the street, I guess luck was by me at that time because I escaped into the street with not scratch from the bullet. I quickly got into the car and I zoomed off out of the street, thirty seconds into the street, I already have two cars behind me in a hot pursuit. After two turns the cars increased by two.
“F**k…!!!!!” I cursed out loud as one of the car caught up to me giving me a bump from behind.
‘How important could the contents of this drive be that big jones have to unleash an army of mean on me?’ I thought looking from the rear mirror how furious the guys were.
The chase was becoming more real and dangerous, I have a sprained shoulder and the neck where I got strangled earlier was still quite hurting. I sighted a junction where the light was already on yellow and was about to go red, I had to beat the light or get trapped for them to catch up with me. I stepped on the gas and accelerated and was just about to cross…
“Oh s**t…” I cursed seeing the light go red.
‘I can’t stop now...’ I said to my said to myself as I increased my speed, it was a tee junction, and I was coming out of the minor road to turn left into the major road after crossing the lane going the opposite direction I was going to turn to. The light had turn red before I got into the lane I was supposed to cross, but I didn’t stop the car, rather I jumped into the road risking everything.
I was almost out of the first lane I was supposed to cross, trying to go as fast as possible to go into the lane before other cars on the other side going into the lane I wanted to go into get to the middle of the crossing.
Baaammmm….!!!
I got the first hit on the left bumper of the car, I could swear I thought I have escaped that part of the risk until I heard that loud sound. I lost control of the and it wasn’t easy trying to get it back with a sprain shoulder, ideally I was supposed to pull the hand break with my right hand and turn the steering left, but I could not trust the strength on my left hand and had to rely only on the deceleration the foot breaks can give to me. The car was almost gaining control and the second hit came and I would say it was worse because the hit came right in between the front and rear door of the right side of the car.
I could only see the car leaving the ground resisting all forms of gravity, I wished I had used my seatbelt, but I didn’t and after a rolling on the floor twice and the next one was a no touch tumble having me hit my head somewhere I can’t really remember in the car and I passed out but not for long as I found myself in a sinking car the very next minutes.
I was brought back to life by the raising water which just got to my nose and choked me out with the very first breath I took, at that moment I was glad I had not used the seatbelt because it made escaping from the car much more easier especially with the sprain shoulder which was the next thing I felt on my body after waking up.
After a series of good kick on the windscreen which was already weak at that time due to the numerous tumbles the car took before landing in the river, it gave way and I was able to swim out on the other side.

Now here I was, all broke to the last dime, I really needed to get some cash, and I needed to do something and what more will be easy to do if not what my best friend had always done back in school. I got myself a waiter job for an event over the weekend, it was a wedding ceremony, I later got to know the celebrants and the guest were all coming in from Miami which is my city. My charming and flirty ways cam in totally useful this time to, as I was able to convince people do me favors they are not owing me, especially the ladies.
