/HANNAH’S POV/
I got home way early that day, just before noon. I was totally mad at everything that seemed to make me happy earlier that day, a twist in fate and now they all made me sad and furious.
‘Did my father the agency’s chief of staff just manipulated and handed over to me his daughter a solved case so I can look good amongst my colleagues’. I began to whine in my head, as I lay on the bead starring at the ceiling. I just could not help but imagine how much of a laughing stock I would be amongst that same set of people who he tries to make me look good in before.
‘Well, it seems like the only one who could leak that information is now dead…’ my thoughts continued onto Dele, or rather Mikel Andrew as I just discovered. For the record it seems like that was the part that hurt me most about this all nightmare happening in broad day light.
I tried to wave the thought off my mind immediately I sway towards my dad and was already feeling hate for him for pulling this kind of stuff without running it out by me first to know my opinion on it. No doubt I need a win so badly, but not that I was this desperate to do something that will turn back to bite me in the ass.
I looked around the room to see anything I could do to take my mind off this matter, then I noticed my well-arranged home, and I quickly remembered where I got my inspiration and motivation came from, my lover barman kelvin.
‘He should still be at home at this time, he doesn’t go anywhere till late afternoon’ I thought to myself. I got up in a flash to freshen up as I didn’t really get to have a bath that morning.
‘Going to his place, I know will definitely ease all my pain and I can try to forget my worries till the pains fade away’ I was thinking of reasons to justify my decisions of going to his place because I cannot think how in the world I became what I was about to do.
I got to the shower and was in the act of applying the shampoo to my hair, then I began to ask myself,
‘Hannah, you’ve only gone to his house from the club with him and that has always been at night, you going there during the day without prior notification ant really proper, what if you get there and met something worse to than what just happened at work today, let’s say like him having another lady over at his place, a lady he probably picked from the club last night?’ This question sounded like a rhetorical question as I didn’t even care to provide an answer for it, rather, I continued with my bath.
Kelvin has been my solace and the shoulder I have gone to cry on a couple of times, but no doubt I no going there at this time was not really a good idea, but I needed something to stop me, I couldn’t stop myself, my bran was no longer working as it has been corrupted by glitches from in between my tights since the first time his thought crossed my mind that afternoon.
I had this strong intuition not to go there unannounced, at least not today, it could have been any other day, but today was a wrong timing.
‘If you go today, you’ll get to hurt yourself more than you’ve already been hurt today.’ This strong voice aid out loud from within me, but I wasn’t ready to listen. Or I could say I was listening but I couldn’t stop myself from going there. I hurried myself into a simple black slim fit jean trouser and a simple and a white shirt which I wore on a lacy bra. Car keys in my left hand a cup of soda in my right, and I was about to step out of my apartment…
BUZZ! BUZZ!!
The sound of my phone on the kitchen counter where I dropped it while serving myself the soda into the disposable cup. I ran back to it and there I saw the force that will finally stop me from doing what I didn’t want to do.
“Hey Hannah, I will be free by 4pm, come pick me up lets go for that shopping we talked about preparing you for your trip tomorrow.” The text from Jane came down on me reminding me of the wedding I was supposed to be travelling to.
“I guess I finally find what will stop me from going to Kelvin’s” I said out loud and walked out of the apartment.
……………………………………..
“What are you doing thinking of s*x just about an hour after you heard the news of someone you knew?” I asked myself sitting at the lobby waiting for Jane, she is a public prosecutor.
Yeah, I might not have known Dele for so long, but he has been a part of my life for the past few day, he might have been a pan in the ass, but he sure was a great deal of help for me, even though I just found out that his actions had external motivations that I was oblivious of. He was actually a sweet guy, and most likely I would have called him to come over to my place so we have some fun just like I promised, and I have no reason not to fulfil that promise to him as he was actually very good, I must say I love the way he calls me ‘MY LADY’ and I will really miss him calling me that.
“Hey Hannah….” Jane finally came out with a big smile on her face.
“Hey Jane…” I responded forcing a smile on my face, but I did badly in forcing on the smile as Jane noticed immediately.
“What’s wrong?” she quickly asked throwing her right hand over my shoulder.
“Actually I just received news of a friend’s death” I said making sure I do not say more than she needs to know.
“Oh… I am sorry about that” she tried to console me.
“Will you still be able to go for the shopping as planned?” She asked in a concerned manner.
“Oh yeah” I responded sharply.
“I actually will really love to, it will help keep my mind of the death.” I added as we began to walk out of the building.
“So where do we start from?” She enthusiastically ask. I was still parallax on what to say because I don’t really know what we are going out to do.
“Whatever we do, let’s go to the spa last” she suggested.
“Spa…?” I questioned.
“Yes, we should also go to the spa” she said.
“I think that should be part of the wedding programmes for the ladies.” I explained to her though I was actually trying to only avoid spending so much intimate time with her.
“Okay then, let’s go shopping.
Shopping with Jane was fun, she made me feel like a lady again. We went down to the saloon and had a nice time, it was a saloon at her neighbourhood and it made me realise what I have been missing with me being around ladies. The gossips about people in the neighbourhood and most importantly gossips in the entertainment industry , that will help me with my friends and I won’t have to just sit and watch, I can also participate in the discussions.
“Oh please I need to grab Hazel’s shampoo…” Jane mentioned as we were about to get into the car after getting out of the saloon.
“I almost forgot about that” she ran back into the saloon where she can get the shampoo in their mini cosmetics mart.
“Oh my, I have to call him…” I said out loud remembering we had agreed that we will talk about some personal stuffs with him.
“Call who…?” she asked stopping abruptly in front of the saloon.
“Hazel.” I responded pulling out my phone and began to forward a call to him. He didn’t pick the call until it rang out and sent me down to voicemail.
“Hey Hazel…” I began to record a mail for him.
“I am with Jane now and we are about to go grab dinner before we depart…” I was still recording when he picked up the call.
“Hannah what’s good” he said in full delight and joy.
“I’m fine…” I responded.
“I and Jane did the shopping today and honestly I almost forgot about you wanting to talk out something to me.” I quickly stated as Jane stepped out of the saloon.
“Oh yeah that’s right… I am glad you actually had that stored up in your mind”. He said with so much gratitude in his voice, making me wonder what’s wrong with him, hazel I know never make himself at the gratification of other people, he is a very proud buddy.
“So what’s the plan?” he asked.
“Well, we going for dinner at the moment, oh I am really famished, if you don’t mind, you can come join us” I replied and suggested to have dinner with him.
“Of course I do not mind, where will you guys be having the dinner?” I quietly whispered the same question to Jane.
“Tell him to meet at us at the eatery at my work” he responded with her eyes glued to her phone.
“We will be going to Jane’s work place” I passed the information to him.
“Okay, will be there in ten minutes” he said dropping the call in a haste.
“Why did we have to go to your work place?” I questioned Jane.
“Aside the fact that their food, services and serene in amazing, it’s the only place that I can think of situated at a location that’s kind of half way to your place and ours” she said defending her decision. I nodded my head in affirmation to her reasons as I walked to the other side of the car, we hopped in and in about five minutes we got to the restaurant.
No doubts, I must say Jane has a very good taste for fashion and social relations, that she had shown me all through our shopping over the day and also when we went ahead to the saloon, she only intervened in selected topics and made sure she has a very good and sound reason for saying whatever she says. Well, you shouldn’t expect anything less form a public prosecutor.
