/HANNAH’S POV/
The wedding went perfectly awesome, thank goodness it was schedule to hold in the evening just when the sun in its full grace is about to kiss the sea, it would have been a challenge to have it anything earlier than that, we all woke up that Saturday morning with a terrible hangover from the previous day. Oh that Friday was a whole loads of fun, from the spa we headed straight for the club where a VIP section has been reserved for us. Drinks upon drinks, we played games after games and heart to heart discussions leading to deep secrets being spilled.
“So what line of career are you willing to go into if probably leave the agency?” Helen questioned over breakfast. I was surprised about the question and why she asked me such question made me dazzled.
“Sorry…?” I asked puzzled to what I just heard.
“You said yesterday that you not fulfilled in the agency and wish you could just leave and get into something you will be happier and more successful doing.” Racheal quickly cut in noticing I was not sure how she came about that topic.
“What…?” I blurted out with my eyes almost gouging out of the socket.
“I must have really had too much to drink” I finally found my voice.
“You all had more than too much to drink” Helen said, she was the one with the apathy for alcohol, right from time, especially during our collage days, she was saddled with the responsibility of getting home safe.
“I wish I haven’t said too much…” Cindy said looking a bit scared as she looked towards the other ladies in the group.
“NAAAHHH, you didn’t say anything new, but you see Hannah here, she had allot to say…” Helen pointed out looking at me interestingly as she sips her drinks.
“I really hope I haven’t spilled any family secrets last night…” I looked playfully sad, but in actuality I hoped I haven’t said anything I was not supposed to say, especially about my job which entails so many secrets.
“Well, aside the fact that you not don’t like your job, you mentioned something about your brother desperately in need of cash and you have an annoying colleague named Sam, which brings us to the most interesting part of your revelations yesterday…” Helen kept on talking till she finally stopped for a pause as if trying to create a dramatic suspense.
“Come on what else did I say…?” I quickly mentioned as I looked around the table and it was obvious no one else heard that part.
“I think Hannah is in love…” The excitement on all their faces after Hannah finally announced was one in a million.
“Are you serious…?” Racheal questioned enthusiastically with big smiles on her face.
“Yeah, and I wonder why Hannah here is trying to hide the man who has not only been stealing her heart and increasing the rate at which it beats, but also ….” Helen stopped again to take a bite on her boiled egg, that’s her usual dramatic manner to build suspense whenever she is telling a story.
“Come on Helen, will you just spill the beans already and stop this drama you are taking us through” Cindy angrily dropped the cutleries in her hand looking all frustrated out of curiosity.
“Just calm down, you going to get the full gist” she pompously assured as she took a sip from her glass.
While I watch the rapt attention the lades were paying to Helen as she grandly tell my story to them, I decided to focus on my meal, after all she alone heard most of the part I wouldn’t want to make public and I don’t think I said that much to cause any troubles for me. Hazel’s part was the only part I really wished I had not mentioned at all, but I did and thank goodness they didn’t they didn’t really find interest in that topic and just passed it down the drain.
………………………………………………
“I have this big hotshot company I want to invest in…” Hazel had started to explain the reason why he wanted to see me the moment Jane excused herself to the ladies.
“I have been reading and following there stock for about two years now.” He added looking very determined of what he is trying to sell to me.
“Now a window is opening up by mid next week, like I said have been following their stock and their news also, they are going to be…” then he began to explain some stock market wall street grammars which I couldn’t quite understand, what I could conjure from what he was saying was that a big shot wants to buy shares from the company and will be pulling strings that makes the price of the stocks drops and by the weekend raise it back to normal just before it will shot high rapidly.
“…I would have really loved to go into it with my own earnings but opportunities like this don’t come knocking all the time…” he added some more plain English I could understand.
“How much will you want to put into this company?” I asked as I casually take a sip from my wine.
“About a hundred thousand…” I gushed out almost chocking on what I just had.
“A hundred what…?” I couldn’t help but ask in surprise.
“Hannah, this is huge and I already have forty” he declared.
“I would have asked from Jane, but what if it goes south?” he added with the question.
“What if it goes south, isn’t she your fiancée?” I was surprised by what he was trying to say.
“She ain’t family and I do not want a lady telling me she is part of my success.” His arrogance was coming into play here again.
“So why not go to dad?” I asked him as he looked at me scornfully following the question.
“What he is family and he is also a man” I added to my point.
“Look Hannah, you know I can’t go to him.” he stated determined.
“Okay, I am not saying I must get up to a hundred, but I need to increase the capital I am putting into this, you get me my point.” He hurriedly concluded as he sighted Jane approaching back from the ladies.
……………………………………………..
“…But also have been rigorously satisfying her canal pleasure” Helen finally completed her statement to the amazement of everyone.
“So Hannah, were you trying to hide him from us?” she quickly followed up with a question and a look that says, ‘you better start talking’.
“Is it because he is working at a bar?” Helen was not letting me rest, she followed up with another question even before I could mutter the right words to explain myself.
“No! No! No!... that’s not the reason…” I quickly fired out trying to defend myself from the onslaught of Helen who was obviously entertaining the rest of the ladies who could not stop laughing as they enjoy the drama as directed by Helen.
“Then what is the reason?” she fired at me like an attorney who was trying to input words into the mouth of the one on the stand.
“I am not sure of my feelings yet…” I fired back at her frustrated by her pestering.
“Well lady, you look damn sure yesterday while you describes how he treats you and how it perfectly meets your specifications.” Helen was not giving up on me admitting I love him.
“I was drunk Helen…” I said laughing out loud making other ladies who had stopped laughing to the way they saw things turning out between I and Helen also joined on.
“Oh yeah you were just like the first time you fell in his hands and let him take you to his bed.” She said joining the laugh.
“Alright, here is my personal advice to you on this subject,” Helen started looking all serious.
“Try to enjoy yourself to the fullest here, and forget about it completely. After all, whatever happens in Vegas…” Helen continued and stopped again in her usual drama.
“Stays in Vegas…” All the ladies thundered together.
“And when you get back to Miami…” Helen continued again.
“You go meet that guy baby, by then, you should be sure if what you feel is actually real.” She concluded in the admiration of all those on the table who all affirmed and seconded it as a very nice idea.
‘That was part of my idea from the very beginning’ I thought to myself as the ladies kept on making comments on what Helen had just said. For a moment, I wondered if I haven’t mentioned that to her while drunk yesterday.
“Alright ladies I suggest we go back in and relax before we come back out to prepare for the evening.” The boss stood up and announced.
“Yeah…” yeah Cindy agreed to the idea.
“I need rest to clear this hangover from yesterday from my head, I don’t want to look all raggedy in my wedding dress because that’s what will happen to my face if I don’t clear the hangover from my system.
“Please ladies rest and tell you men to also rest, because we all are suffering from same effect.” She ordered s she was already halfway out of the hall.
“Hannah, I will be sending you the speech very soon, do well to go through it.” Racheal told me just before leaving the room.
“I thought you asked us to rest.” I screamed after her which she didn’t even care to respond to.
True to her words, Racheal sent me the speech just about an hour after I got back to my room, I was finding it hard to sleep, I have been tossing around on the bed unable to sleep and worse of all was not able to focus on a single thought. I keep on jumping from Dele’s help and death, to kelvin and the romance we had, but most of the time I thought about Hazel and what he wanted to invest in. I finally decided to step out of the balcony and that was when I saw her.
“What tha f**k is she doing here?”
