Chapter Six

300 Words
After Elizabeth left, George readjusted himself on the bed and winced in pain. Opening his eyes and seeing her there, he had felt as if he was dreaming. Until she told him she was only there because of Ross. As soon as she said those words, his happiness at seeing her died. He never should have expected she would come to see him of her own accord. He was nothing to her. His chest ached and it was not from his wound. Focused on his short meeting with her, he ignored the dull ache which niggled in his shoulder. They had given him pain relief, and he was sure they would be around to give him even more. The pain he had felt had unbearable, but he was managing. Well, the medication that went into his IV made him numb. If only his feels could also follow suit he thought. With nothing better to do, he turned the lights off in his room and stared up at the ceiling. He thought of the attacker, and then he remembered he installed the camera and his office. Could this be how they were gathering information? First things first, he needed to speak to Ross and then he would make the arrangements for himself. He was not sure how long they would keep him in the hospital, but he was against letting his family know. George did not want them to worry about him. Both his parents had had enough problems of their own to worry about his issues. George knew they would find out what happened to him, but he would keep the secret if possible. He could not forget there was someone out there targeting him. He should not be around his family, getting them involved would only complicate the matter.
