“This is from Juliet, I got this a year after her passing, the night I met you. I want you to read it.” He gently hands it to me and I open it.

I’m so grateful to be in your arms right now, I’m so sorry I’m so difficult and come with baggage.” I place my hand on his cheek and he turns his head to kiss my palm. “I love you baggage and all, you are difficult and you are stubborn but I love every minute of it, you keep me on my toes babe, I never know what to expect from you.” I smile at him and step on my tip toes to kiss him. “You think Juliet is happy with me?” I ask and he grins. “Juliet would love you, I bet she was cheering you on when you slapped Lauren earlier.” I giggle and look up to the sky, mouthing thank you with my lips so she knows I’m grateful.

NOAHS POV

“Can you tell me about her?” Sevyn asks as we’re laying in bed after cleaning the kitchen. I turn to look towards her and nod. “So when I was 18 I went to NYU an art major, we shared some classes together but we never really knew each other, you know how that goes. She was there majoring in biology, she wanted to be a biochemist. I went to this party happening in my dorm and she was there, I’m not much of a partier as you know more of a people watcher and she just came up to me and said. “It’s a lot more fun to live your own life rather than watch other people live theirs.” We chatted for a bit and we had a lot in common, so I asked her out and she said yes, I was a lucky son of a b***h. Our first date she planned and she took me to a beach party where we spent the whole night drinking and walking along the water and the sun came up and we realized we walked so far we had no f*****g clue where we were. So we had to hitchhike our way back to NYU because we had gone with friends but obviously they left us. So we dated through college, my program was shorter than hers so I graduated and moved in here and she moved with me. She was a dancer and she would dance around the apartment for me for hours, she told me this is how she studied. She was fun and different, she was crazy but I loved her and around 3 months from her 21st birthday she passed out in the kitchen. I rushed her to the hospital and they did scans, and mri’s blood tests and the results came back and she had a tumor in her brain, it was just eating away at her and it was terminal, brain cancer. They said she had a few months to live she might be able to see her 21st if they started treatment right away but she refused. I remember that fight, I wanted her to fight through it, I believed she could beat but she just held fast that she wasn’t going to put herself, put me through that. She knew she wasn’t going to beat it even with treatments and I deep down knew that too, so we both sat in my living room and cried. She dropped out of school the next day and we traveled for a month she wanted to see the world, I showed her some of the worlds most famous galleries and well she didn’t give a s**t about art but for me she pretended she did and she showed me some of the worlds most beautiful natural phenomenas explaining to me the whole time, how they came to be the science behind it. But when we were in Rome she got sick, really really sick. So we rushed home and it was really aggressive when we thought we had another month or two, it turned into a couple weeks. I sat with her every day and I read her, books, her favorite ones, I painted for her. But a few days before she passed she lost her sight, she was so weak she could barely lift her arm. She didn’t want me to see her like that but I wouldn’t leave. And 3 days later, I sat by her bed telling her stories, I created in my head she loved those the best and I was holding her hand when I noticed her machines were going crazy. I called the doctors in and I wouldn’t let go of her hand they tried to do an emergency surgery and she waved them away. With her last breath she told me she loved me and she can’t wait to see me again. I sat holding her hand just crying for so long, until I couldn’t anymore and I ran out of the room and just stayed here in this apartment for a year, I barely ate, I didn’t talk to anyone or paint, I didn’t even get off my couch except to bathe and use the bathroom. Then I met you and it felt like, I got a second wind on a tough run, I felt the life return to my body.” I finish my story and she grazes a finger along my jaw, I show her pictures of Juliet and she sits with me as I tell her more stories.

“She sounds very wonderful and she was so beautiful, I’m sorry you had to lose her like that, I’m sorry the world had to lose her.” I nod and place my head on top of her, we’re both sitting criss cross against my headboard. “Me too.” She takes my hand in hers and rubs her thumb along it. “Could you tell me about you and Ritchie?” I ask cautiously and she nods.

“So picture this 16 year old me, Nadia, Gavin Gina, Cali and Ember. We’re in the bad part of town trying to get some weed, from our usual dealer but he couldn’t meet us this time we had to go to him. We’re totally out of our element and we come across this guy sitting on some stairs in front of a run down apartment building, throwing back beers. This time its her turn to show me pictures of her and her friends. Young Sevyn was something to look at, she was definitely Nancy’s daughter. She had a wild look with a huge grin in every picture but I sighed sadly as I notice her smile get smaller and her eyes get dimmer in the years she was with Ritchie. She showed me her pregnancy pictures which were sacred to her. She was so beautiful with her baby bump a little more light in her eyes, I can’t wait for the day that bump is from me. We layed in bed for hours just telling each other silly stories until we fell asleep.
