In the days leading up to Christmas, Elizabeth started noticing more of Matteo’s strange behavior.
With him home for the holidays, he was more involved around the house than usual. She found it both nice and, if she were honest, a little strange.
The morning after his family’s arrival, he had come up behind her as she made breakfast, his hands covering hers to knead the dough. She’d smiled, savoring the warmth of his body against her as their fingers worked together over the dough—but this time, he didn’t pull away when someone entered the room.
