I wonder why Jake was so weird this morning. Actually, come to think of it, he has been acting totally different lately. I wonder what the in-between Jake would say if he found out that I had the biggest crush on him in Junior High. That’s what I have come to call Jake when he starts to act this way. It all started to happen when he got his license and started to drive me to school. The in-between state only lasts a day usually, but this time it has lasted two weeks. I really hope he snaps out of it though Stacey has been shooting me glares for the past week, so I’m guessing that if Jake doesn’t stop soon then everybody is going to start to notice and his relationship with Stacey will be over. I would hate for that to happen. Jake would be crushed. I think he has really strong feelings for her, well at least I thought that until two weeks ago. I mean don’t get me wrong I would love it if Jake had feelings for me but I have known for years that he won’t, at least outside of my dreams anyway. Okay, so maybe I’m not completely over my crush on Jake, but I know nothing will ever happen between us since we come from two different cliques. Jake is the electric green eyed Hockey player and I am the English nerd, we couldn’t be more opposite if we tried. Ya he gives me a ride to school and back every day, but that's only because his parents told him he would get a car if he did. Bet he does not know that I know he is really nice trying to make it seem like he doesn’t mind giving me a ride to school. Too bad I overheard him telling Stacey when she asked him why he gives “That nerd,” (that's what Stacey calls me, I don’t even think she knows my name) a ride to school.

“Hello earth to Loucey. What has gotten into you today, you can’t pay attention at all. It’s not Jake on your mind is it, of course it is. The only time you zone out like that is when you think about him.” Says Linzy while waving her hand in front of my face and giggling. I grabbed her hand to make her stop moving it in front of my face.

“Okay, Okay I’m back down to Earth. Geez do you have to talk so loud? I mean really not everyone has to know that I am crushing on my neighbor.” I lean over and whisper to her.

Linzy is the only one that knows I like Jake. She is my best friend. She is a tall dark haired half Italian with cobalt blue eyes. She could be a part of the popular crowd if she wasn’t the most clumsy person you could ever meet. Well besides me that is, I can’t even walk across a flat surface without falling most of the time.

“What are you staring at?”

“Oh sorry, I was just thinking how cute of a couple you two would be if Jake would get his head out of his butt and break up with Stacey and go out with you.” Linzy states with a shrug.

“What?! You and I both know that will never happen. Why do you have to bring that up here? I really don’t want everyone in school to know, let's just talk about this when we get to your house after school.” Loucey whisper yelled at me.

I think Loucey is going to hyperventilate. I honestly don’t know why she thinks she’s not beautiful. I mean she is just the right height at five foot, with long black hair and those red highlights I talked her into last week, and dark brown almost black eyes that make her seem all mysterious. With the dresses and boots she wears all the time all the guys are head over heels for her even Jake, although he won't admit it.

“Okay I was just saying, don’t hyperventilate on me. Let's head to class so we're not late. Oh by the way my parents are gone this weekend too.”

“I thought we were going to stay at your house because your parents were going to be home for the first time in a month.”

“Ya we were, then their plans changed but that's okay. We can still stay at my house, we are always at your house. It will be a nice change. Plus you know that new kid, he is my neighbor and I heard he is having a party that everyone is invited to.”

Wow could Linzy talk any faster. I’ve seen her looking at that new guy all week. Oh boy is she going to freak when I tell her he is Jake's cousin. I think with a giggle.

“What's so funny?” Asked Linzy with a confused expression.

By this time we are in our first hour, and the bell rings before I get the chance to answer.

“Lunchtime finally. I have the best ham sandwich ever, MMMM I LOVE MY CHIP’S!!!” Linzy chirps while starting to eat.

She is so goofy sometimes. I don’t know how she can eat that meat though it's just not natural. My salad is so much better.’ I think while taking my seat at our usual table. Linzy and I have all the same classes so we usually get here at the same time, but our biology teacher needed to talk to me so I had to stay after for a minute.

“So what did Mrs. Lieman need to talk to you about? I honestly do not know how you can eat fruits and vegetables all the time, it's just not natural.”

“She needed to talk about the Science club next year, and see if I will be rejoining. What do you mean it's not natural to eat fruits and vegetables? They are very healthy and they taste great. Oh look there’s our yearbooks, lets go get them.”

“Uhg, why? They will still be there after we eat. It’s not like they will give yours away. Besides, they are going to pass them out anyway.” Linzy moans, while taking another bite of her sandwich.
