For days on end, neither Evan nor Luna bothered to contact Julia.
Julia relished the newfound peace and quiet. With those troublesome people out of her life, everything seemed brighter.
It was time for her monthly check-up, and Luke had gone to her office early to pick her up after work.
"Julia, how about I intern at your company? That way, I can see you every day," Luke suggested, his voice dripping with playful charm.
"You have no idea," he continued, laying it on thick. "My uncle's been working me to the bone. If this keeps up, I'll drop dead from exhaustion. You've got to save me!"
Julia couldn't resist Luke's pleading and reluctantly agreed for now.
