Chapter 28 Brian’s lifted spirits, thanks to Rico, lasted a few days. A few kids at college, who Brian knew from high school, mentioned he seemed like his old self. When doing research in the school library for a report, he came across a story about Charlie Sifford, a black golfer who broke the color barrier for blacks way back in 1961 by successfully challenging the Professional Golfers’ Association, the PGA.
