A short time later, Brian and Jim biked to Mrs. Guardino’s place.
“Did you get a boner earlier when saying I’d look sexy as a cop?” Jim asked. “I saw you grope yourself in the mirror.”
Brian didn’t answer but grinned deep.
They knocked. No answer. They knocked more and called out, but still received no reply.
Brian stressed. “What should we do?”
“Maybe she went out or something, you know.”
“She never goes out anymore.” Brian pounded with his fist.
Finally, the woman opened the door and smiled. “How nice to see you. Were you here long? I was in the bathroom. Funny, I live alone and I still close the door when I go in there and I don’t hear that well anymore.” She put in her hearing aids and stroked Brian’s face. “You look almost white. Something wrong?”
