Chapter 9

Jacob POV

I ran the perimeter around the town with the warriors in wolf form. I was thankful to run out my energy. Meeting my mate yesterday drove me crazy and I couldn't sleep last night knowing she was not too far away. My wolf Samson whimpered all night like a love sick pup.

You know you were skulking too, Samson said. As we ran past the old fort.

I wasn’t crying like a b***h though and pacing all night. I teased him.

I told you, our mate wants us and it would be rude not to oblige. I smelt her arousal when we pinned her against the wall. Samson said.

You don’t think that I am not craving her? I am fighting every instinct not to run to her and claim her as mine, I frustratedly said.

Well let's at least find mate, and let her get to know us.

Yes, that sounds like a good plan. I started to feel excited that we were gonna see our mate. Samson took off running towards the compound.

Smelling the air for her gardenia scent I walked around the bunk house where she stays and didn’t smell her there. I ran towards the dining area and couldn’t find her delicious scent. Where is she, I thought. I told Samson to give me control and I transformed. I started to feel anxious, I couldn’t sense her presence here. WTF?

I ran inside the huge warehouse to the indoor training area. I saw warrior sparring and exercising. I was so hyper focused to find my mate that I didn’t realize I was still naked. I noticed James walking towards me.

“Need some shorts?” James asked.

“Yeah”, I said. Still looking around the training area for Jo.

A few seconds later a warrior runs up to me and hands me a pair of shorts. I put them on. James must have mindlinked him.

Where can she be? She wasn’t doing perimeter rounds, I checked the bunk house, and she’s not training. Where the f**k is she? I feel Samson getting anxious and he wants to come back out and rip the world down to find our mate. I turn to James.

“Where is the unit from the Rising Moon pack?” I hurriedly asked James.

“They are over there sparring, they're pretty good and I'm happy they are joining the fight.” James said while pointing to a large group in the corner.

She’s not there.

“Where did the female warrior go?” I asked.

James looked at me with a smirk and said. “Alway going after the pretty redheads, huh.” giving me a nudge with his shoulders.

“I don’t know where she is,” James says as he turns around and walks to the group sparring.

My breathing is becoming ragged and I can’t understand what the f**k is going on, where is she? I see one of the warriors from her unit watching the sparring match, I think his name is Sam. I jogged towards him.

“Hey, where’s Jo? I asked him. Realizing my voice came out harsh. The man name Sam stiffened and looked at me.

“She had orders to see Alpha John.” Sam said looking at me with annoyance but trying to hide it.

“When was this?” I asked.

“Late this morning, sir.”

I turned around and ran out to the training area. Why did my dad want to talk with her? Does he know she’s my mate?

I ran towards my dad's office and opened the door, finding an empty room. The faintest smell of Gardenia still lingered in the air. Where are they?

I walked over to my dad’s desk and picked up the office phone calling my dad’s cell. It rang twice and went to voicemail. F**K! I hung up the phone.

Samsons constant pacing and growling in my head was not helping this worry in my chest.

Maybe my dad sent her out on assignment. I got an idea and I mindlinked Tom the gamma.

“Tom, it’s Jacob”

“Dang Jacob you sound like your dad even through the mind link,” he said.

“Did you assign a red-head to a stake out, or on assignment?” I asked desperately hoping he knew where she was.

I would be pissed if my dad put her in danger or worse, in a small confined space with another male wolf.

“No, no red head assigned today,” Tom said.

“Thanks”, I instantly cut the mindlink.

What should I do? Samson was still whimpering in my head. I am a f**kin mess.

I look at the clock on the wall of the office and see that its 4:30 now. I better go home and get ready for the welcoming ceremony. Being the son of the Alpha I had obligations. I decided that I’ll quickly go home, get ready and come back, so I won’t miss her return.

I let samson take over and we transformed, running through the woods to my house. It's faster to travel in wolf form than driving. I wanted to get back as soon as I could.

After running for 25 minutes, I was approaching the border to our land when I heard paws hitting the ground behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a group of 4 wolves. I sniffed the air and they didn’t smell like rouges. I quickly took control from Samson and returned to my human form. The wolves did the same. Soon I was face to face with 4 naked men. One man steps forward, I recognize him.

“Sir, we are from the Crescent Moon pack. We are patrolling the property.” The wolf I recognized said.

“Thank you, good job. I will debrief with you later.” I said as I ran away to my house.

I climbed the 20 ft fence and leaped over into my back yard. I ran to the back porch and looked for the box of extra clothes we kept. I found a black pair of shorts and pulled them on. I opened the back door and that’s when the most heavenly smell hits me.

Mate, Samson says.

I walked into the kitchen and it was empty, but the smell of Gardenia was still strong in the air.Am I going crazy? Do I want her so bad that I am hallucinating her scent?

Confused I followed the smell through the kitchen pass the dining room and towards my room? Huh?

The door opens and stops me, out steps my Aunt Layla. She is dressed in a long silk lime green dress.

“Jacob, I feel like I haven’t seen you enough since I got here,” aunt Layla says as she grabs my face in her hands and stares into my eyes.

“What’s wrong, why are you so anxious and worried?” she asked.

I don’t answer. Do I tell my aunt that I found my mate and I think that she is in the house. That's crazy. I wasn't sure what to say.

She pulls me in and wraps her arms around me giving me a warm hug. She quietly whispers,

“You will forget your worry and anxiety in 5, she releases me, 4, and walks me to the living room 3, she moves my body so i’m facing the stairs, 2, and looks up the stairs expecting something to appear, 1, she says.

Right on cue I hear footsteps walking down. I see my sister Jade in some leather pants and a black long sleeve shirt. I then notice someone was descending behind her and the smell of Gardenia is now overpowering my senses.

My mate walks down the stairs in a black leather bodysuit like Nikita wears. Her red hair is down and framing her face, She looks so sexy. I feel my d**k twitch and my body starts to heat up.

Grab mate before she disappears again, samson yells.

Every part of me wants to run up to her and pin her against the wall like I did the first time i met her.

Jade breaks the silence and says,

"Jacob your home, this is Jo my bodyguard."

"Jo, this is my brother Jacob." Jade said. Did she just say bodyguard. I suddenly felt pride enter my chest. My mate must be a bada** if my father to assign her to Jade.

Jo is still on the stairs and locks eyes with me. I'm not sure what I should do.

Jo's POV

When Jade opened her bedroom door to go downstairs to leave. I smelled the addicting smell of cedar and pine. s**t is he here.

Mate, Mate, I want mate, Mya happily sang in my head.

All of a sudden I was nervous, I don't get nervous about a guy, I dominate. But I felt butterflies in my stomach. I have been having many new sensations since I met my mate.

As I followed Jade down the stairs towards that overpowering fragrance, I could hear my heart beat in my ears, my palms were sweaty. What do I say to him, I thought.

Halfway down the stairs I saw him standing in the living room, he was shirtless and the sweat on his body made him shimmer. I saw every bulging muscle, from his toned shoulder to his wide chest, down to his abs, shizzled to perfection.

F**k, our mate is a greek god, Mya said.

He was staring intensely at me. I wasn't sure what to do. what do I say?

Thank God Alpha John came in the living room and said,

"Are you ladies ready?"

Then he turned to Jacob and said,

"Get ready we are going to be late, son."

Jacob doesn't move, he just continues to stare at me. His dad, looks at him and then at me with a puzzled look on his face.

Aunt Layla breaks the awkward silence and walks over to Jacob.

"Babe, go get ready. No one is going anywhere, we will be waiting." she said.

He looks at her and nods his head and walks to his room.

"What was that about?" Jade said.
