First Doom

The day of the council. His father and brother rode the same carriage on the way to the Palace of Minster. It’s a place that serves as a meeting place for councils.
Now at the meeting hall. They were greeted by the financial councils and the war councils. Today will be the day on how they will handle the matter against the Unified States.
“The Unified States, July, 7, Year 1921 of the continental calendar. The Unified States who was our colony began to declare their independence. This is not a rebellion, this is war. And the Unified States is serious about fending us out.
Now, this is the start of the meeting and everyone was tense. They all looked to the king but were there because he doesn’t have power over the council. But he only has the power to agree on their decision.
“Good morning everyone, this is my son. Gerald del Stuart, and Roland del Stuart. Even though they are a child they showed a talent that no one in this world has seen. Gerald here scored a perfect mark on the hardest test of University of Londoln, while his brother got 43 out of 50.”
“Your Majesty? Are you saying that your son will partake in this meeting? Please pardon my rudeness but this is not a game. I hope you take this matter seriously!”
The council began to agree but that was understandable since grown-ups listening to kids is completely ridiculous.
However.
“When did I lie to you all councilors?” It was an intimidating word.
The king has never been fooling around. If this is his decision and then it must be respected.
“Okay then. Do we agree that the two sons of the king shall present their idea to this matter?”
Everyone agrees.
“Okay, you may now proceed.”
With the assent of the chairman. Gerald del Stuart took the podium and offered some tactics on how to deal with the rebellion. The reason why the Empire loses to the Unified States is that the generals of the Brittia army are not working together and instead they do whatever the hell they want to do. They could have won this war but the Empire’s Parliaments think that it was not worth it since they are losing so much money and troops.
And then he handed out a pile of papers to the war councils and the financial councils. Those papers contain battle plans and financial expenditures in order to keep the economy of the Empire in check.
After one hour of reading his proposals. The chairman of the council began questioning his plans.
“Freeing slaves from the Unified States and converting them to our own forces? Surrender the colonies we have in the dark continent and move all our forces out of the continent to aid the brittia troops? There is also a possibility? That the Francois republic? The Kingdom of Dutch? Spania? Will it help the Unified States?
“How did you come up with this? It looks possible!” The king exclaimed.
“The answer is simple. They want to overthrow the Brittia’s hegemonic power in the west. The Francois republic is understandable since we’ve been battling them for over a century. And also I suggest that we move our talented generals that can work together to execute the plan. This is the ultimate plan to take down the Unified States as long as our commander worked together. Of course, we don’t want a long war since it will strain our economy that will hinder the industrialization process. But I think that it will be worth it since the Northern Continent is full of arable lands and ores.”
“Okay, one last thing. What do you mean by purchasing the territory of Louisianian? The owner of it is the Francois Republic. Our adversary. Will they accept it?”
“Of course they do since they are industrializing as well. Their economy was bad after their revolution and they needed money. If we purchase Louisiana. It will bring great income to our economy.”
They all looked at him dubiously, for a child to be able to come up with a complete plan that looks like he has seen this battle before. He was just a child yet they are being convinced by the way he wrote the plans. It was cohesive, plausible, and possible. If they put their faith in this plan. It might work.
Losing to the Unified States is a huge shame for the Brittia Empire who is the strongest country in the whole world. Soon after they lost to the Unified States, the neighboring countries started eyeballing the Brittia like the Krimean war. The Fatherland, the Francois Republic, Sovyet Rossiya is starting to industrialize. Those are the information that he has been able to attain.
He wishes that the Empire will not be brought down to its knees.
“Speaking of the Black Continent, aren’t we losing more resources that we can attain from it? For example the trade route in Egipt.” His brother asked.
“Of course we are not letting them go.” Gerald replied, “We will still rule the Egipt since it's the trade hub for trade in the East. The central region is packed with oil while the rest of the colonies don't have it. We are losing money in placing our troops in worthless land and must invest in countries that have the natural resources that fuel industrialization. The middle east is packed with oil as well. In short, it's a give and takes scenario.”
“You may be right, we have a lot of colonies but we are not earning. Maybe it’s time for our troops to leave in the said colonies.”
“I agree,”
“Then are we all in agreement that we should adopt the plan made by Gerald del Stuart to stop the independence of Unified States?”
The chairman said the ultimatum.
Everyone raised their hands.
“Then, it's settled. We will pass this to the parliament for evaluation and then we can concentrate our forces to the Unified States.”
It was now settled. He was relieved that the council is considering his plan. Though he is no commander, he has the foreknowledge of how the war of Brittia and the Unified States will break out.
The Empire is full of talented generals that can execute his plans. If the plan is successful it will end for about a month or a year depending on the situation. But if the general adapted his idea, then the battle was decided before it was even begun.
Though he despises wars since it violates the Hippocratic oath that he swore when he was a doctor. So, he made his plan that will result in less bloodshed. Breaking the will of an enemy is the best way to win the war.
It took another hour for them to leave since the council is discussing his plan further to look for blindspot. But there wasn’t.
They left the Palace of Minster and went back to the Royal Palace and hoped for the best. His sense of patriotism is coursing through his veins when he presents his plans to the council.
“Your plan looks promising Gerald. How did you come up with that?”
His father, Viktor asked him.
“It’s because I studied every aspect that affects the flow of war. For example the interest, returns, allies, geography, et cetera. Calling for independence is admirable that can make a country that is hostile to us to help them. That’s also why I put some limitations when there will be prisoners to treat them as humanly as possible.”
“So, you advocate the rights of everyone?” Roland added. “Those are highlighted in your plans. We knew that there is discrimination happening.”
“That’s right. So, when I become the king. One day, I will build a prosperous and peaceful country where everyone will have enough food and clothes, a warm place to sleep in, and equal access to education.”
With that word, Viktor and Roland were moved by his idealistic word. It’s true that his words are happening in this Empire. Viktor looked at him with a gentle smile.
“Then, Gerald, I want you to draft an education reform. I will pass it to parliament. You and I have the same goal in mind. A better life in our country that everyone can enjoy.”
“I too want to see that happen,” Roland added.

One year later. The war between the Empire of Brittia one-sidedly won the battle against the Unified States. Though they are still permitted to run their country as a commonwealth country. The plan that Gerald devised created less bloodshed. The Brittia Empire also purchased Louisiana granting them the territory of the Central Continent and are still expanding westward.
Since the Empire is expanding its influences in the Central Continent, the Dark Continent is freed in its colonizers in accordance with Gerald's plans. The General who took part in the expedition is so amazed at his flawless plans.
Now another year has passed and now the Empire has full control of the Central Continent. There is only one country that is present in the continent; Mechica Kingdom in which the Empire recognized it in exchange for ceding them a part of the territory of the east.
Meaning, the Empire has grown stronger than before and the economy is booming. They are earning so much more money in the Central Continent than the Dark Continent. Everything is moving according to Gerald’s plan.
His popularity in the Kingdom grew once more leaving Roland behind. Instead of harboring jealousy towards him. He only felt that Gerald deserves it since he’s the one who planned it after all. He just acted as an observer in the council on how bureaucracy works but Gerald took it to another level.
“Gerald-sama!” A girl called him, it was Elise Clorance whom he made friends with, at the tea party.
Ever since the incident, She grows consciously towards Gerald who helped her when she was bullied. Ever since then, she is occasionally meeting up with Gerald once a week to teach her about biology. While the rest of his days are composed of self-study and meeting with Catarina.
Two young girls stood beside him left and right.
“Hey, can you move a little bit farther to Gerald?” Catarina protested.
“No way, Gerald-sama is my prince. I will never let him get away. Anyway, I’ve heard about Gerald's proposal to you and you rejected him heartlessly. So, why do you care?”
“It’s true that I rejected him but after knowing him so much more. I-I…”
“What is it?” Gerald moved his face close to Catarina who was speaking so softly.
“Hmph! Never mind.” She averted her face.
“Cold.”
“Don’t tell me Gerald-sama! Are you in love with Catarina?”
“Of course!”
He answered without hesitation. Those words are like knifed butchering her little heart.
“No way,” She sighed deeply but regained her composure.
“Now that you know it. Give up. Gerald is declaring his love to me every day that I grew accustomed with.”
“I will never give up! Listen, Gerald. I will make you fall in love with me!”
She declared loudly and gathered the attention of the students.
“Hey, did you hear that? Elise Clorance said that she will make the prince in love with her?”
“What a brazen statement.”
“Hey, the prince will hear you.”

“Little brother!”
A man called him out from behind. It was from Roland.
“Oi, What’s up!”
Then they exchanged a bro's fist.
“Are you ready for our real bet this time?” Roland said.
“Yeah!”
“By the way, your education reform initiatives are now being discussed in the Parliament. Voting begins later.”
“I see, then let’s hope that it will pass.”
Then the four of them entered the royal academy.
Six years later.
They grew up and became a fine man and a fine woman. On the graduation day where the principal of the academy will announce the top student took the podium.
“This student gathered 99,85% percent of grade and is also the one who is the author of Education Reform. I will introduce you to you. Our top student of the 26th batch of the academy. Gerald del Stuart!”
A round of applause resounded the hall.

Roland looked at him curiously.
“It’s because it was a close fight,” He said vaguely.
Then he approached the podium and gave his valedictorian speech.
