CHAPTER 35 Queen Raaheel and her warriors had them surrounded. Blodwyn set Clairece down on the floor, and not gently. He snatched his staff out of Gembert’s hands. He stood with his left leg forward, right back, and knees slightly bent. The staff was angled in front of him, gripped loosely in both hands at the center. Pushing back with his arm, Mykal tucked Geneva behind him. He mimicked Blodwyn’s stance. Gripped, and re-gripped his staff. His heart pounded inside his chest. Transporting the six out of the dungeon and into the castle front foyer drained his energy more than expected. He’d worked on this move time and again with Blodwyn. It was not one he’d mastered.
