CHAPTER 26 Although the doorway to the dungeon appeared sealed off, and after making sure no one was around, she depressed a brick in the wall and it unlocked. Slipping through and closing the door behind, she made her way down the dark spiraling stone stairs. Tracing her hand along damp, cold walls she carefully descended into the black. Black iron bowls sat on either side of the widening mouth at the bottom of the stairs. Red burning coals glowed bright in contrast of the surrounding walls of nothing but darkness. She removed an unlit torch from a sconce and touched the cloth wrapped end to the embers. Igniting, a large orange flame came alive. She walked the room, touching the end of her torch to the others still hung in sconces on the walls. The dungeon was alive with moving shadow
