Chapter 34 A Secret Meeting with Rangda.

867 Words
A few weeks later, Melchior was secretly meeting up with Rangda in the Divine Dimension. Melchior didn’t understand the need for secrecy, but he didn’t know much about this strange place, so he decided to follow suit and did as directed. They met up in a building next to an unpowered portal, leading to one of the planets that were destroyed in the multi-millennial war.   Rangda spoke: -          Heeheeheee!! Behold, this is the portal to Proxima Zetani. A beautiful jewel of a planet immolated in a matter of seconds by our mighty Xenos. Melchior: -          Interesting, but what relevance does it have to the mission? Rangda: -          Don’t bother. I’m just making small talk. -          You might be wondering why we are meeting like this in secret when we are leading the two most massive armies around here? Melchior: -          Yes. I had pictured our first meeting to be a bit more official and grander. Rangda: -          Yes, marvellous isn’t it. Humans and Xenos united, fighting against their former oppressors and deceivers, the Zetans. -          But marvel and beauty don’t win wars. Treachery and debacle do. Melchior: -          I don’t understand. When we spoke telepathically, you said there were only a few thousand Zetans left? Rangda: -          Numbers mean nothing. A large well-armed group of Terrans lead by a General sent by Hilda Muller got into conflict with a small group of Zetans a few years back. At the end of their kerfuffle, most of the Terrans that came here were dead, killed by the Zetans. -          Unscrupulously, their ill-fated scuffle helped us immensely as we could move in and wipe out the tired Zetans and absorb their souls, while we kept a few of the Terrans alive as prisoners for information on Earth.   -          They taught me a lot about the Terran mindset, and that is why I told you to close the portals. The Terrans would have come after us, once their cities were out of harm’s way. Melchior: -          Yes, covering your rear is always important in warfare. But how to do we get back then? Rangda: -          We can use some of the elements we brought to power up the portals from our side, but this won’t be relevant for many years. We got lots of work ahead of us. -          First, we must fool the Zetans that your army has come from Mars to help them kill the Xenos, so you can infiltrate their ranks and become their ‘friend’. Melchior: -          And how do you suggest we do that? Rangda: -          We make a staged fight, of course. We make sure that a large force of Terrans fights some of our Xenos in a battle visible from the Zetans fortress, Ultima Zetani. Melchior: -          But wouldn’t this waste our troops for nothing? Rangda: -          No, it’s the only way to convince the Zetans that you have come to help them. Flushing the Zetans out from their fortress Ultima Zetani is almost impossible. They have a defensive psionic barrier preventing us from even approaching it. -          While sacrificing 10,000 troops from my Xenos and your Martian military is costly to us, it will convince the Zetans to trust you. Melchior: -          You are indeed an evil genius. But what do I do once they trust me? Rangda: -          Well, first of all, you’ll need to make sure that you hide your real face. Our plan is foiled if the Zetans realise the Xeno mutations of your genome. Use the Zetan External DNA modifier to give yourself a favourable human appearance. -          Then you need to convince them to come out with their leadership and army to aid you in the decisive battle against the Xenos. Do whatever you have to do to convince them. Worship them, promise them Mars and the eternal worship of humanity, even let them take command of your army. It doesn’t matter. -          The Zetans will lead your army to a final pitched battle against the Xenos, led by me. They have waited for a decade for this opportunity since my escape from captivity. -          This is when you betray them. Stab the Zetans in the back, lay down a barrage upon them and corner them while my Xenos storm in and wipe them out, so they’ll have nowhere to run. Melchior: -          Good. I have done this in the past when I followed Keila Eisenstein during the Martian revolution against the Terran Council. I can do it again. Rangda: -          I know you, Melchior. You can. I can see myself in you, but don’t ever consider crossing me, or you’ll regret ever being born. Melchior: -          I wouldn’t expect anything less from you mistress Rangda! Rangda: -          Good. Choose a worthy portion of your army to face my troops in battle outside Ultima Zetani in five days.  Melchior: -          Yes, Rangda. May it be a glorious battle! After saying this, Melchior returned to his stealth-hovercraft and returned to his army camp.
