Chapter 35 An Honourable Mission.

625 Words
The following day Melchior approached one of his generals, General George Smith, to send him on the critical suicide mission, agreed upon with Rangda on the day before.  George Smith and his army, the 13th Reconnaissance Division were the perfect candidates for the task. They were volunteers from the Martian Revolution and still identified with the values of the Martian Humanist Alliance: bravery, compassion and equality, values that were a definite mismatch with Melchior’s values. Furthermore, they hadn’t been infused with any Xeno DNA and were still 100 % human. Melchior approached George Smith, who was a sympathetic-looking man with delicate features: -          General Smith. I have an honourable mission for you. -          I will send you and your division on a diplomatic mission to the Zetan stronghold of Ultima Zetani and try to form an alliance against our Xeno enemies. George Smith: -          You have been very secretive these last few years Supreme Commander Dorevitch. Why are we here? What purpose does our trip to this strange place have when our enemies are the Terran Council on Earth? Melchior: -          I am sorry for keeping you in the dark George, but as you know, there are many spies and enemies of the revolution, so I had to keep my inner circle small. -          I plan to ally with the Zetans. Together with the Zetans, we’ll find a way to kill the leader of the Xenos Rangda. Without their leader, the Xenos are just mindless beasts, and we can send them back through the portal to Earth to decimate our enemies before taking what is rightfully ours. Earth! -          It is to this end I have gone through the painstaking process of infusing myself with Xeno DNA. Xenos will only follow other Xenos or Xeno hybrids. Rangda, the current Xeno leader, is, in fact, a Xeno-Zetan hybrid. George Smith: -          But why won’t the Xenos lead themselves? Melchior: -          They are hive-minded creatures. They share their consciousness with their leader. When they lead themselves, they are primitive beasts leading primitive beasts. The blind leading the blind. George Smith: -          I see. But wouldn’t unleashing the full extent of the Xeno hordes unto Earth cause the death of millions of innocents? Melchior: -          Yes, and that is precisely our plan. The Terran Council tried to wipe us out twice during the Revolutionary War. It’s time for them to taste their own bitter medicine. George Smith: -          Yes. Sometimes acting evil against evil people is the only option. -          But why am I bringing a whole division on a diplomatic mission? Melchior: -          To show the Zetans your prominence and importance. Come with a few men, and they’ll think you are nobody. Arrive there with 10,000 soldiers, and they’ll help you fight the Xenos!  George Smith: -          You are right, Emperor Dorevitch. I’ll get my men ready and travel there as soon as possible. After George Smith had left, Melchior sat down pondering what he had told his general. It had been a lie meant to deceive George and send him into a trap, but it was also a real possibility. Melchior didn’t care for Rangda or her mindless hordes of Xenos. If he could throw them into the chopper with the help from the Zetans, that was also an opportunity not to be missed. All that mattered was his own might and power, and Melchior didn’t know what the Zetans had to offer yet. Such exciting times ahead of him but for now he could just wait and see. He opened a can of animal blood and sipped it while smiling contently by himself.
