Chapter 24 Melchior Boards Metatron’s Shuttle and Almost Kills Sabina.

1413 Words
A few weeks later Metatron and Sabina were travelling back to Eden when they ran into some serious trouble. They encountered several warships from Melchior’s faction, the Martian Dominion, which was the new name for the Olympus Republic. Metatron realised that he could not hope to outrun the hostile warships decided to surrender, and shortly afterwards Melchior and his bodyguards entered the shuttle.  Melchior: -          We meet again, Metatron. And that must be your daughter? How delightful. What a shame you didn’t introduce us last time when I came by. Metatron: -          I don’t want to drag infants into planetary politics. -          Besides, you promised to leave me alone if I handed over the Zetan technologies to you. Melchior: -          Bah, speaking of promises.  We discovered that most of the technologies you gave me were infested with Trojan viruses making them useless. But you failed. The ones we could use were still enough to help us conquer Mars, and whatever devilish plan you thought you could set in motion came to naught. Metatron: -          Is that so? And why do you reckon that I was the one who put the viruses there? They might have been from the start. Melchior -          Yes, I realised the same thing, and that’s why I kept my promise. -          But I never promised to leave you alone.  My promise was to stay away from Eden if you gave me the technologies. A promise that causes me severe grief every day, as I’m forced to live separated from my Eden relatives. You’re truly an inhuman man Metatron, forcing a man to stay away from his beloved family! Metatron: -          Beloved family? You incinerated your own mother to prove a point, you evil monster! Melchior: -          You forced my hand. I wasn’t going to be blackmailed by you to stay away from what is rightfully mine. -          Regardless, why are you travelling back to Eden from Earth, what business could you possibly have on Earth? Metatron: -          Just feeling homesick. I was born on Earth, and I wanted to take my daughter to Earth and show her my roots. Melchior: -          What a load of rubbish. Taking a toddler without her mother on a long trip to Earth for sightseeing? Ridiculous. -          Unless… Melchior aimed a DNA scanner towards Sabina, and the answer was what he expected. Sabina was Keila’s child. Melchior: -          Fascinating. You and Keila must have fertilised an embryo and used a surrogate mother before she went on her suicide mission to Earth? -          What goal could she possibly hope to achieve doing that? Metatron: -          She just wanted a part of her to survive after she moved on. Maternal Instinct. Melchior: -          Nah, that doesn’t sound like the Keila I knew. I bet it was one of the visions that told her to have a child with you. In that case, we both know what I must do… Melchior pulled up an electrical stun gun and electrocuted Metatron, knocking him to the ground. He then grabbed the crying Sabina and studied her carefully. Melchior: -          Fascinating. She is the spitting image of her mother. -          But why would you go to Earth with Keila’s daughter? What could you hope to achieve? -          Could you be collaborating with the greedy and cowardly plutocrats in the Terran Council? But why would you bring your daughter to such a meeting? Melchior looked at Metatron who was still cramping uncontrollably from the strong electric shock he had been exposed to. He gave a signal to his bodyguards, to help Metatron back on his feet, and handcuff him to a wall. When Metatron had regained his consciousness, Melchior spoke again: -          I have come to a conclusion. I will never find out why you brought your daughter on this foolish and dangerous mission to Earth. And to be honest, I don’t even care why. You have brought me the opportunity to get revenge for what you caused me to do to my mother. Melchior smiled a sinister smile, stared into the innocent eyes of Sabina and took a small bite into her shoulder. The toddler screamed a heartbreaking shriek of pain as Melchior took a gulp of her blood. He turned to Metatron: -          You should thank your baby daughter. Because she is the reason that you’ll get out of here alive today. You see, witnessing what I am going to do to her is a fate worse than death, and I want you to suffer! He took another bite of Sabina’s arm and then threw her roughly into the wall, knocking her unconscious. With Sabina’s blood dripping from his mouth he walked up to Metatron, face-to-face to mock him. Metatron didn’t respond and instead, he fiercely head-butted Melchior who fell to the floor. Eventually, Melchior got up, and smiling psychotically he spoke: -          Ah, pain. Why do people try to avoid it, when it is the purest form of pleasure? Melchior got up his feet and knocked the chained Metatron unconscious with a flurry of hard punches. He then turned to, Sabina who had regained consciousness, to finish this grizzly murder. Melchior was stopped in his tracks when Rangda appeared as an illusion in front of his eyes: -          Raaaaah. Stay clear of Keila’s daughter, Melchior. I sense that Sabina has a lot of potential untapped psionic powers waiting to be extracted. Powers that will make us even stronger if you give them time to grow, before killing her!  Melchior: -          But mistress Rangda, this girl is my prey, and she is delicious. Rangda: -          You’ll get your opportunity to eat her later. But first, she must grow up and face me. After I have drained her psionic powers, she is all yours. -          I command you to leave the girl and her father alone and let them travel back to Eden. Melchior: -          Arrrgh…! Yes, mistress Rangda. I will do your bidding. After saying this, Melchior ordered his bodyguards to patch up Sabina’s and Metatron’s wounds so that they could go back to Eden safely. After that, he went back to his private room on his command ship. There, Melchior picked up a huge sewer rat, crushed it with his hand and drank its blood to quench his dying thirst but to no avail. The rat’s blood was not what he was after. Melchior was furious with Rangda for denying him his prey, but he would obey her for now. After all, he still needed her as she had so much to teach him! A while later, Sabina approached Metatron with her eyes shining bluer than ever: -          Are you okay daddy? I am so sorry that I couldn’t stop those men from hurting you. Metatron: -          I am your father; I am the one who should protect you. Sabina: -          Yes, but you are only human, so I can’t expect you to do everything. How are your wounds? Metatron: -          A bit swollen but I’ll be alright. I am more worried about the bites he took off you. Sabina pulled off the bandages that Melchior’s bodyguards had put on her shoulder and on her arm. There was not a scratch, and the wounds had healed like they were never there. Sabina spoke: -          Don’t worry about me. Just be a good father for Sabina when I, the True Maker, am not around. -          I don’t usually use my healing powers on humans as it is against the laws of the universe, but I’ll make an exception today. Sabina put her tiny hands on the bleeding wounds on Metatron’s face and body. Metatron felt a short burst of intense serenity and calm, and when he got back to his senses, his injuries and his headache were gone. When he came back to his senses, Sabina was her usual self and was hugging him: -          Daddy, I am scared. Bad men hurt me. Boohoo!! Metatron: -          The bad men are gone and won’t hurt you again, my sweetheart. Let’s go home to mommy Melissa on Eden and tell her about our fun trip to Earth!
