Chapter 25 Hilda Muller’s Dilemma

673 Words
It was New Year’s Eve; 2876 was about to end, and Hilda Muller had excused herself from the House Muller New Year’s celebration and withdrawn to her private level of Europeum Tower.  She had been withdrawing a lot from the world since Metatron’s and Sabina’s visit six months earlier. What had happened that day? How had the child suddenly changed eyes colour and started talking like an adult urging her to attack the Xenos, just to revert to a toddler moments later? Hilda couldn’t comprehend it, and she had no idea what to do about it. Hilda had studied all the video footage with her science experts, and no-one could explain what had happened. What was known was that an unexplainable divine intervention had happened, with the daughter of their old enemy ex-Martian rebel Keila Eisenstein as the vessel. But what would she do with this knowledge? The toddler had urged her to take the army to the Divine Dimension, but would she do this? For all she knew, the kid could be possessed by the demon Rangda like her mother had been and if that were the case, there would surely be lethal traps waiting on the other side of those portals. Being frustrated by her own fear and indecisiveness, Hilda Muller decided that she had to do something. As it turned out that something was someone, namely one of her bodyguards, Melanie Weber. While Hilda preferred men to women, it was interesting to try something different, and Hilda had grown disillusioned with men. They either feared her for her power or tried to seduce her to dominate her and steal her power. Markus White had been different, but he was too weak to stomach the brutal reality of power, that sometimes you either had to kill or be killed. Emma Schindler had been the sole survivor of the secret military expedition to the Divine Dimension that had gone terribly wrong. Instead of following the objective and focus on finding and eliminating Rangda, she had managed to get in conflict with another alien species, the Zetans, and get her entire army killed in the process. She needed to be punished for this transgression, and unfortunately, Hilda couldn’t afford a public trial for Emma as that would have risked her own life as well. Regardless it hadn’t been an unjustified murder to kill Emma, and if Markus White had been the right partner, he would have seen things Hilda’s way and supported her through the terrible guilt and sadness that followed. But in Melanie Weber, Hilda had found what she needed. Melanie was loyal, secure, discrete, and she was more than happy to help Hilda with her every need. Hilda studied Melanie as she entered the room. It was a shame to hide such a beautiful woman under an ugly bodyguard uniform, but Hilda had concluded that it would be too conspicuous to suddenly dress one of her bodyguards different from the other, so it would have to do, besides the clothes wouldn’t stay on for long. Melanie Weber: -          Melanie Weber reporting for duty, Chairwoman Muller! Hilda Muller: -          Melanie, you are my only guard on duty tonight, I need to keep you near, very near, to protect me. Melanie Weber: -          And who is going to protect you against me? Hilda Muller: -          I am more than capable of protecting myself against you. Melanie Weber: -          Is that so? Then wrestle me to the ground! Hilda Muller: -          With pleasure, you’ll be under me in no time. After that, the two of them started a relatively rough session of wrestling for fun, and a while later, Hilda was indeed on top of Melanie. Hilda Muller: -          I still got it! Melanie Weber: -          Yes, Mistress Muller, you still got it! And there, in Melanie’s embrace, Hilda temporarily could disconnect from the anxiety and fear that was clouding her mind.
