A few weeks later, Hilda Muller was lying naked in the embrace of her bodyguard and secret lesbian lover, Melanie Weber. What Hilda had initially intended to be a short fling and just an experiment to get over Markus White had turned out to be something more, and her relationship pained her as much as it gave her joy. Joy as in Melanie’s company, she felt protection, appreciation and enjoyment, pain as her relationship with Melanie would be political suicide if it became public. As a mighty leader, Hilda could have several flings on the side and no-one would care, but her official partner would have to be someone important, and not of a lowly bodyguard.
Suddenly there was a beep on the intercom, it was her cousin Michael Muller, son of the late Joachim Muller and the second most prominent leader in House Muller, right after Hilda. Michael requested to see her urgently, which was very odd to be him. During the almost three years that the two of them had overseen House Muller, Michael had rarely approached her with any urgent matters. As a matter of fact, he seemed to be satisfied letting Hilda do the long hours and make the difficult decisions.
Hilda decided to get dressed and meet him in the lounge area of her private suite. Michael appeared stressed and irritable. Michael spoke:
- How was the tryst?
Hilda looked at him tentatively, how could he know? Eventually, she spoke:
- My s*x life is none of your business, thank you for asking.
Michael Muller:
- That is correct, and I wouldn’t give a s**t that you f**k your bodyguard if you could just pick up the phone when I am calling you during an emergency.
- Get Melanie out of her hiding now!
Lost for words, Hilda didn’t know what to say, and she sheepishly agreed to her cousin’s demands. A few minutes later, Melanie Weber came out to greet Michael. He spoke to her with a direct tone:
- Melanie. Thank you for looking after Hilda so well for the last three years. Unfortunately, I cannot allow a lowly bodyguard such as yourself to be in an ongoing romantic relationship with our chairwoman. Your employment as a bodyguard for the House Muller leadership has at this moment finished!
Hilda was going to protest against her cousin, but he raised his finger to indicate that he hadn’t finished talking:
- On the flip side, as your severance package, I’ll give you 10,000 shares in the Muller Corporation, enough to have a vote on our annual general meeting. I also offer you the position as the General of our 57th army division.
Hilda Muller:
- Wait. There is no 57th army division.
Michael Muller:
- There is now. Believe me, Hilda, if this woman has been loyal to you for 1.5 years and kept your secret, she is worth her weight in gold.
- You cannot openly be in a relationship with your bodyguard. But partnering up with a prominent and wealthy general; I see no problem with that.
- Now, Supreme Commander Hilda Muller, and General Melanie Weber, we have a serious problem to deal with.
Hilda Muller:
- I am listening.
Michael Muller:
- The psychopathic madman that rules Mars, Melchior Dorevitch, has arrived with a large fleet hovering 200 kilometres above Hansstadt. He requires you to come and meet with him on his command ship.
Hilda Muller:
- What? How did he manage to get this close undetected?
Michael Muller:
- He probably used some alien stealth technology to mask his ships. Our spies indicate that there has been a tremendous technological advancement on Mars since their revolution against us.
Hilda Muller:
- Oh s**t. Can we beat him?
Michael Muller:
- Potentially. Our analysts believe that he moved prematurely due to the catastrophic harvests and looming starvation on Mars.
- However, with him this close to our capital, any major confrontation would probably level the entire city.
Hilda Muller:
- We cannot risk that. I guess I have no choice but to give in and meet this madman on his terms.
- You stay back with our army on full alert. If something happens to me, we cannot let this lunatic conquer our territory. If he tries anything, then attack him with full force.
Michael Muller:
- Understood. I will take the lift down to our underground command bunker at once and coordinate our forces.
Hilda Muller:
- Good. Now Melanie…
Melanie Weber:
- Yes, Mistress Muller?
Hilda Muller:
- Hurry up and pick up a General’s uniform.
- You’re coming with me. I need you by my side when I am facing this Martian menace.
Melanie Weber:
- Acknowledged Mistress Muller. I’ll get changed and meet you at the starport as soon as possible.
Hilda Muller:
- You can call me Hilda now. My cousin just made you one of us. Now hurry up!
After having sent Melanie and Michael on their way, Hilda hurried to get dressed and make her way to the starport. On the way to the starport, she was filled with a mixture of fear and a sense of relief. Concern about her upcoming meeting with the power-hungry and wicked Melchior, but a sense of relief knowing that if she managed to get out of this alive, she would finally be able to officially partner up with the woman she loved.
